OT: University of Maryland Mess

Apparently durkins 1 practice back. The punter, who was the whistleblower got jumped and beaten by some of the other players. Not known if it was called by Durkin. But I bet that played a roll in them firing him.

Nah, I live in the DC area. The Washington Post has been KILLING them on this for weeks -- even before decision from Regents came down. Then, when the polticians -- including the Gov of Maryland-- saw which way the wind was blowing, they threatened to investigate the Board of Regents. That was the END of poor D. J. He is NOT being fired for cause, so he's due a huge buyout! The Prez of the Board of Regents quit today too. Expect the AD to go next.

Ad should have been gone. But regardless their program is over.... not that they were ever anything anyway.

Unfortunately, good enough to beat us in Golden's first game as HC (think it was, anyway). And, in the single worst UM loss I've endured in person, when the Terps came back from 31-0 at the half, in the OB to beat us. Also beat us with Jim Kelly hurt and Kyle Vandewende at QB in 1982 up in College Park. Boomer Esiason was their QB>

They left the ACC because Debbie Yow, their AD, had bankrupted the Athletic Dept coffers by adding tens of thousands of seats to a stadium that was never close to full. Solely a $$$ move. No alums or fans were in favor of B1G membership.

Their HC wish list is Matt Venables, Matt Campbell and Dino Babers. Good luck with them. Article in WaPost says Venables has an $11.5 million dollar deal at Clemson. Over $2M a year. That's what we pay our top assistants, isn't it?

First Debbie Yow is the AD at NC State not Maryland

Second is Brent Venebals not Matt Venebals

Well Debbie Yow was at Maryland until 2010. In 2007 they started their plans to expand the stadium. Using my abacus she would have been there making athletic department decisions during that time. And its Venables, not Venebals.

Easy, we were hurting at the position at the time and we needed a recruiting victory...not to mention decent depth.

Not sure I saw anybody claiming Whoopi was the next coming of McGahee, she was just needed at THAT time and she strung us along and screwed us.

Where do you think Debbie Yow was BEFORE NC State? Answer: U of Maryland. On Venables, was already thinking Matt Campbell when I typed Venables incorrect first name.

Why is Kevin Plank not taking more heat about this entire clusterf*ck nationally? I understand why he's not within the Maryland community but the national media has once again dropped the ball as apparently one of the major reasons that Durkin was idiotically attempted to be retained was because Under Armour wasn't onboard with rightfully canning his ***.

Imagine the same thing happening here with a no-name coach and The Tomato King vetoing the firing. Bob Ley and Outside the F*cking Lines would be crawling over the Herald and Sun Sentinel to run the expose.

Will Maryland not take a chance on Mike Locksley after what he has done at Bama this year as OC, his local DC area ties, and lessons learned under Saban? I guess that tank job at New Mexico will continue to haunt him
 
Locksley's name is always front and center whenever the Terps HC job comes open (which is often). They're not gonna get Venables, Campbell or Babers. I would think Locksley would take the job if offered. He's a DC native who knows the DMV and all the HS coaches exceptionally well. IIRC< when Locksley was the top recruiter at Illinois and Maryland, his rep was a bit shady. That might scare Maryland off. Greg Schiano's name was also in today's Wash Post article as a possibility.
 
Do you all not remember when Locksley was the HC at New Mexico? I'll be shocked if he ever gets another D1 HC gig
