OT: Taggart to Oregon

USF should hire Geoff Collins, UiF's actual defensive coordinator, that man can run a defense plus it weakens the Gaturds.

I think we will find out next year if Geoff Collins can run a defense or if Will Muschamp left NFL talent behind.

I don't think we'll be able to throw more than $2.2M a year at him.

You had me all the way up until this?! I would have thought the number would have at least be in the 3+ range. All they need is a top tier coach and they'd get Power 5 $ in a few years.

Depends on where the fundraising and fan support is at. I think Taggart left partly out of frustration that he was running up the scoreboard and couldn't get more than 30k fans to a game. I dealt with it myself trying to get people to come-"come to the game, bro! USF's 3-0! Come to the game, bro! USF's 6-2!" People around Tampa don't want to listen, it's like banging your head against a wall-losing to FSU did not help, even though our chances weren't great (everyone felt like they were after Lousville reamed them a new one). I think 3M could be there, but it would have to be someone really impressive like Jeremy Pruitt or Brent Venables. Charlie Strong has a very mixed coaching record.

Also-we're not going P5 any time soon, that ship sailed when the Big 12 decided to not expand. I told people they needed to come to the games if they wanted the Big 12 to pay attention and they did not. It's little wonder the Big 12 chose not to expand, there was no one there they liked.

LOL. UM fans are scared to death of everyone. Taggart, Shannon, Chaz *******, Lame *****in.

South Florida kids have taken visits to Oregon since Phil Knight decided to turn it into a Nike playground. They go there, marvel at the TVs in the hot tubs then come home and forget about Oregon.

Eugene, Oregon is a dump half a world from here no matter how much lipstick that doddering old codger Knight's shaky hands smear on it.

Tighten your pvssy up, Parrotnose. This will have zero effect on UM. In fact, Taggart stood a much better chance taking kids from the area when he was a short drive from UM. Taggart has CA ties from his time with Hypebaugh out there. That's what he'll attempt to use at Oregon.

How many SFL kids have gone to Oregon and played ball?

Congrats to Willie, but **** we don't need another national power making Florida a priority recruiting area.

Go Canes

He has a sht ton of talent on his side of the world. He doesn't need to make the state of Florida a priority.

On the fence about this hire, no doubt Taggert's turned around a couple dumpster fires but it's hard to get a bead on a guy who dips out as soon as he gets things pointed the right way. I'd like to see him at least maintain success a couple of years before offering him the job but I guess you've got to strike while the iron is hot in today's game.

Willie definitely will have way more resources to work with thats for sure

why did you emphasize actual?

Because he thinks Randy Shannon doesn't play a big part in uf defense which he is entirely wrong.

If Shannon plays a big part in the creation of the UiF defense, then he should have implemented those concepts when he was Head Coach here while crappy teams were gashing us with shallow crosses all day, every day.

TL;DR: who calls the plays on UiF's defense?

Lol at the Taggert hire.

Oregon obviously didn't learn from the Al Golden era at Miami.

Not sure what impressed Phil Knight more...

The loss by 16 to Temple or the wins over Towson, Northern Illinois, Uconn, Navy, Memphis, SMU or East Carolina.

What a joke.
I don't get the Taggert slurping either. Very underwhelming choice by Oregon.

He got the job in part because Tony Dungy was pushing him for it.

Good coach. I'm sure he's getting paid more but he had something going at usf plus he has a bunch of ties to the area. Not sure he has any type of experience recruiting out in cali. Hope he success out there

Taggart is a good coach but may have peaked at USF. He will always be left with recruiting scraps after Miami, UF, FSU, and SEC/ACC teams sign the best talent. USF is not moving to a P5 conference any time soon. Moving to a PAC 12 school with far greater resources is a good career decision.

Everyone posting Taggart was a poor choice should post a list of the elite coaches Oregon should have hired.

Good point. It's not like the big names are beating down the door trying to get the Oregon job. Their best hope was Chip Kelly pulling a Bobby Petrino and dipping out on his NFL job mid-season.
