OT: Charlie Strong

I agree with most of the posts here that speak to how difficult it will be for him to succeed at Texas, but I'll say this much - I bet on the defensive side of the ball in particular and along their offensive line they become the most physical team in that conference in short order. Why they haven't been in the recent past has always been a head scratcher for me.

I don't know if Strong will win titles, but i do know he will have Texas as one of the top 5 teams every year. Well he do it this year? I am not sure. To what degree the shape of the program is in.

I'm not buying it was Teddy that had Louisville where they were. It was Strong, and his staff. That put Teddy into the position he was in. That lead to him having a very nice college career, and Louisville. To have a 33-3 record in a 2 year span.

The guy is a very solid coach, and reached the peak, of what he could do at Louisville. He was 4 points away. From either playing in another BCS game. Our maybe playing FSU for it all.

Watching this Charlie Strong interview has convinced me that we need a coach like this down here... He has the ability to communicate effectively in the public and convey his message to the masses, while relating to his players and having the mentality that is ingrained into the young men of South Florida from Pop Warner. Seeing what he did at Louisville, and what he did to us in the bowl game, I am certain he will be a force at Texas.

He really thru that ball around well... Hahaha. Charlie needs to make a big deposit in Teddy's bank account because without him, this wouldn't even be a conversation!!!

Put me in the column that thinks he will win big at Texas. Their recruiting is always top notch. It's not going to suffer from Charlie Strong being there. Charlie Strong is a good coach. That's all Texas needed, IMO.

He's an average coach but has a good eye for talent, recruits well, develops his players and runs a good overall program. If he lands a solid QB he will have UT playing for championships. He will find success at Texas.

Wish he were at Miami. He would have absolutely killed it.

especially recruiting, he would truly build a fence down here if he was at Miami.

No one is "building a fence" around Miami in 2014. We don't have the resources nor the reputation to do that anymore.

Can we please stop with the whole "fence" nonsense. Miami never had a fence around South Florida, there are way too many prospects in the area and kids that just want a different experience. This crap has gotten out of control since the saturation of games on TV and the internet. Now every single game you watch has some kid(s) from the area. It's always been that way.
Miami also helped create the situation, as they got better and better more and more schools came to the area to recruit.

A&M and Baylor have everything, if not more than UT, including better stadiums.

lulz you aint from texas i reckon

UT has everything.

I can see the UT stadium from my office. Kyle Field and the new Baylor stadium are much better.

The UT campus is old and cramped. The continuous pool of farmers' daughters and being in the city of Austin are the only redeeming qualities.

I was recently in their booster room under the basketball gym before the UT-Kansas game. I felt like I was at a Shriner's convention in the basement of the Tulsa Marriott circa 1981.

UT is not all that.

Gators went in the tank when he left Gainsville...This speaks volumes to me...

Nah, Florida's D has finished in the top-10 all 4 seasons since Strong left...Strong did kick the sh.t out of UF 2 years ago, though...

These same people calling strong an average coach or lucky cause of bridgewater are the same ones calling golden a don.

How many players on Louisville were to rated?

Ex. Remember that corner who *****ed the entire hurricane team and challenged goldens manhood? Well he was a two star freshman cornerback. He wasn't good enough for us. The wat he was playing he would have been our best corner.

And please name a coach that has won championships with just average players???? im waiting.........

Isn't strong responsible for recruting guys like Bridgewater, Rogers, that other wide receiver Parker....... People give credit to gulden for recruting Tracy, Deon, Yearby, Jamal, Chad Thomas, Stacy Coley, etc..... He does deserve credit because HE RECRUITED those guys. Wether he licked out or not. The only guy I don't give Dolan credit for is Duke Johnson.

That being said I really don't think strong will that successful over time At Texas. When I say time I mean 5-6 years. Maybe a ten win season over that span. Doubt he will win a national championship or Bcs bowl at that school for a a few reasons. If Texas a and M was still down, wasn't in the sec, and didn't have Sumlin and a few of the other guys they have on their staff. Strong would probably have a better shot. Art Briles at Baylor, kings bury at tech, LSU gets kids out of Texas, Bama gets kids out of there now, etc........
