OT- Barry Jackson is a savage!

Love Jimmy but the relationship has run its course. It's a complicated situation... I doubt there is another team that wants to give him the max extension he's looking for. In an ideal world Pat would just wait until the offseason and let him walk, but the problem is that Jimmy could pick up his option for next year and drag this saga out. Very curious what the FO decides to do here.

So I, like most normal peopke who love this country, I don't follow the Miami Heat, much less the NBA. So what happens to the Heat fans who have been devoted to this franchise for a long time (vis-a-vis, day after LeBron took his talents to soBe)? Do they, en masse, trade in their white cars with their Miami Heat vanity plates?

Asking for a friend who claims to live in Wade County.

Smdh. Please trade that fool already man. Its clear the Jimmy experiment was a failure, but not for lack of trying. I think the last straw was PatR not being able to close on D Lillard last summer. **** it,.. peace out N1&&4.
Definitely failed because of lack of trying

Pat riley and the heat front office is washed and failed to push the jimmy era over the him to win a ring. Now we probably won’t ever come close to that again, jimmy saved them from mediocrity now they are right back

Jimmy did all he could do while the front office did the bare minimum to improve the team. Gonna be the 2nd time riley ends on bad terms with a franchise great. He needs to retire

Just the guy we need to save Miami Hurricane basketball

Jimmy is also 35 and wanted the extension since last year. There was no way that was going to happen. As i said before, they should have went all in for D Lillard and failed. I agree with you though, that the Riley era should come to an end and soon. Now, WTF is gonna replace him?! Mourning? We will see…

Im fine with not paying jimmy, but the main issue this entire time is riley and the front office not going all in to win a championship. They use to be all about winning now its all about agendas

And i think they need an outside voice, the riley way is old. Its adapt or die time

The new CBA makes it hard.

We tried to trade for Lillard and Kyrie with no luck. Teams are built through the draft now.

We didn’t go all in before the cba…It does kinda make things harder, especially with a cheap owner

We got Lowry to appease Butler. That's who he wanted, the godfather of his child.

Trades are nearly impossible to make. Compare PHX with Brooklyn. They gave up the house for KD and haven't been the same since.

And lowry was their best move the entire build, we had the one seed with him when jimmy bam and tyler got hurt that regular season. 2 deep runs with him being a key part. All of our lineups were better with him here

If we’re hanging our hat on old lowry being the big move while we were contenders for years then thats proving my point.

And trades aren’t impossible, they become harder when the front office want to play two timelines without a ring, when they have been terrible at asset management for years, and mainly when winning a championship isn’t the number 1 priority anymore

We use to be all about winning, we went to the ecf in 2005 and would have won if dwade didn’t get hurt. That very next year pat made huge trades to improve the roster, he didn’t get complacent because dwade got hurt he wanted to make sure we finished the job

Now we are just complacent and we will be mediocre to bad until a star saves us like jimmy did

Lowry was done because that's who Jimmy wanted and who we could get. I'm not saying that was a big move, but rather, it was done to appease our superstar.

We got screwed on the Damien Lillard trade, and Brooklyn didn't want to send Kyrie to Miami.

We can agree to disagree, but I believe there hasn't been any major difference-maker available to whom we had a legitimate shot. I hoped Giannis would want out of Milwaukee a few years back, but that never happened. No one else really comes to mind for me.

Yea i know jimmy wanted lowry, it was a good move. But the point is if in 6 years after multiple deep runs and being right at the door of contending lowry is the biggest move? Thats pathetic

And i dont think we fully went hard after dame, we tried to play hard ball and joe cronin(an idiot) said ok watch this. We had more to lose than him, we should have handled that better. Literally every star that asks out and picks their destination eventually goes where they want but with us it doesn’t happen? Thats a red flag

And even tho i think we needed another difference maker, that was not the only way to improve the roster. In 2020 we traded for iggy and jae crowder, that was key in our run to the finals.

In 2022 we had assets to improve during the season but we were complacent if we had a pj washington who was available ,lauri markennen was available we didn't do it those two moved almost guarantees us championship ,2022 summer we didn’t do anything…Literally NOTHING that’s insane for a contender bro.

Every team who has had success this era, made improvements not all of them were huge but all of them made improvements and it landed them a championship. We did nothing now we will be back to mediocrity with nothing to show for it

Cronin was being such a little B on the whole trade to Miami. Damien's agent later said Miami did everything they did, and he appreciated their efforts, but it takes two to make a trade like that happen, and Cronin was spiteful even though Lillard gave them his best years.

The media narrative was the Heat didn't add another star, which I assumed was your point, but I don't think there was one to be. Adding role players is a different story, and to your point, a player like Lauri could've made a difference here. I remember telling one of my boys the Heat should pursue him to spread the floor as a 4 and add size on the defense end.

Ultimately, I think Pat and the Heat felt they could get their role players homegrown. We did this with players Like Martin, Nunn, Vincent, Struss, Robinson, and Highsmith.
