not quite. temples lead guard is 6’2. Their two is 6’5, 3 is 6’8, 4 is 6’8 and center is 7 foot. They out scrapped us at home
That’s fair but Temple lived and died this season on their guard play with Battle (literally) and Dunn. Definitely larger but overall similar type of play.

It is a Miami board, people aren’t going to like if someone isn’t being a homer. Personally, I think Miami will win but I did acknowledge a couple days ago that I probs will look like a moron with my prediction if we got to Houston. If Miami plays like they did last night, do you think they win? Or do you think they need to play even better than that (which realistically probs won’t happen if we’re being honest)

Admittedly how much basketball do you watch? And be honest cause only casuals come away with thiball s take
My brother, you can go through my posts. Forget "watch"ing, I've been playing ball my whole life and willing to bet no many ppl on this board play more or at a higher level than me. I play in leagues, have a former NBA player on my team, and many famous names I've dropped here I've played against (Tyreek Hill, Antrell Rolle, and many more I've never named drop).

I say all of that as a nice way of saying, good attempt at discrediting me. So now that a non-casual has said that, whats your substantive response to my original post?

I mean I can say the same..for myself personally. So we’re level. No one was discrediting you. I asked how much you watch. But everyone here is sensitive don’t worry about it bro

Come on man, you know where you are. Compared to the 2 IU goons that were here on Saturday, you're being treated with kid gloves in this thread.

Go ahead and talk your UH talk, but you know what's coming your way when you do, so don't act surprised when it does (and, it would help if you could just make sure one of those 5* WR cousins of yours eventually wears some orange and green).

Man I be trying!!!! I can’t make Josh gattis not be a jerk. And I’m actually not even **** talking dawg. Miami terrifies me as a uh fan

Houston is awesome. When they're not scoring, they defend the **** out of you. And if you get on a run offensively, they can put the ball in the basket incredibly efficiently.

Also, the schedule thing is a little overblown. Obviously the ACC stunk this year. Of course there are good athletes, but the league was down, clearly. And their non-conference wasn't very good, but ours was worse. Overall, our schedule is only slightly better. If we play anywhere near how we did against Drake, we'll lose by 25. If we play how we did last night, we can keep it a competitive game and you never know what can happen in the last 5 minutes.

One thing I will say, Houston is leading the country in scoring margin by a very wide margin. They are +18.3 this season. 2nd in the country is Alabama at +14.1....so they have a comfortable lead as far as having the best scoring margin in America.

HOWEVER.....last year they had very similar metrics. Top 10 in adjusted O and D, 2nd in the country to Gonzaga in scoring margin, very slow tempo, average strength of schedule, etc. Very similar to this year in basically every way, as far as metrics go. And they got beat in the Elite 8 as a favorite against Villanova.

Magic number for me is 70 points. This will be a tall task against that defense and with the limited possessions due to their tempo, but if we can get to 70 on them, we can beat them. Memphis just got 75 on them. It's possible. But we're not winning a rock fight against this team, 54-51. That's not our style of ball, and that IS their style of ball. The way to beat them is to play incredibly efficiently on offense and force them to speed up and score. First 5-10 minutes will tell a big story here. If at the under 12 media timeout in the first half, we have 11 points or something like that, it's going to be a really long night. If we can get into the upper teens approaching 20 in those first 10 minutes, we'll know we can beat these dudes.

Man thank you. Miami is awesome. So is houston that’s all

I hate to write this because i feel like I’m turning our karma against us, BUT I think we can play with Houston if the game starts going up and down the court like Auburn last year. Sometimes really athletic teams can be lured into playing an up and down game despite their coaching because the athletes believe they can win that way. Auburn was well coached last year just as Houston is this year, but I think we can speed up the game. And once a game speeds up I put us against any team (except Bama which plays fast with longer athletes).

I worry about us much more when a game is in the 50’s and 60”s like Drake. If this game is in the 70’s or 80’s I think we have a pretty good chance.
Apologies in advance if my confidence ultimately proves to be our downfall.

Miami would scare the **** out of me if I was a fan of any other team because they are really good at doing the one thing you need to do to win and that college teams often struggle with, and that is score the basketball. Not a lot of teams average 80 a night and can do it a multitude of ways. We have kids who can beat you off the bounce, we have kids who can shoot, we have kids who can generate points without plays run for them (Omier), and we have a Swiss Army knife in Jordan Miller who does all of the above at a really high level. I personally hate this matchup for Miami simply because I believe Houston is the very best defensive team left in this tournament (yes I know Tennessee is still here, I said what I said), and they play at a very slow tempo that will magnify each possession more.

But if I'm a fan of any team, playing Miami scares the **** out of me because they're so **** good on the offensive end and they can beat you in so many different facets. They don't turn it over, they can all handle the ball (Omier included), just about everyone is at least a decent shooter, they have multiple kids who can go nuclear from deep, they excel in the midrange, Omier has a motor like nobody else on the glass.....Coach L said it best last night after the game, "we're just a really hard team to guard". He's right. There are just no weaknesses on this offense that you can exploit. It's a small team for sure, so if we faced a team with three dudes who were 6'10 and could move, it might be an issue, but if you're big, they'll just beat you off the bounce and if you're not, they'll just ball screen you to death and get openings on the perimeter, and then Omier is gonna punish whoever you have in the paint. This team is even better offensively than last year's, no doubt about it. And in basketball, good offense beats good defense. If you can make shots, you can hang with anyone. The one thing I trust this team to do better than anything is put the ball in the basket, and I think that's kind of the name of the game.

Can't wait for Friday. I just hope the kids come out the way they did against Indiana and not how they did against Drake. It wasn't so much the result for me vs. Drake, it was the mindset and intensity. They were tight, hesitant, and frankly looked scared. That's not how you play elite offensive basketball. What we did last night is Miami basketball. Confidence, decisiveness, aggression, the ball was moving everywhere, Omier was juiced out of his mind, Wong was looking for his shot...everybody just looked so much more confident and aggressive. We were SO fortunate to win on Friday night with how timid they played that game.

Again….. sack up boys!

Miami can win any type of game against any type of team…. Including Houston! 54-52, 85-80… doesn’t matter.

At some point some of you are gonna realize we BELONG! Been underrated all year long so I don’t expect the hype to start. Not yet at least…

Theirs is nothing passive aggressive about me brother. I’m aggressive. You take your beta male act to therapy how about that lol. And they are. I didn’t say who was the better player individually. Just that houston is more athletic at every starting posting except center
Our 16pt win over the Big Tens second best team trumps your 17pt win over the SEC's 7th best team.

It is what it is.

Lmao, y’all are being way too sensitive about this. Houston didn’t open as a 7.5 point favorite because they played a weak schedule. I picked them to win it all, and yes, beat us, because they’re the most hard to play team in the field more often than not.

We forget so quickly that Friday night we wouldn’t have beaten but a handful of teams in the tournament. We have *wide* variance in our performances from game to game, we have wide variance in our performance freaking half to half. We’ve blown multiple games we should’ve won, otherwise we’d be the 1 seed everyone suddenly thinks we are. We actually played a meh schedule without many high caliber teams as well, btw. Not a single team we beat won more than 1 game in the tournament (Pitt’s play in game aside).

I’ve watched Houston play plenty. One of their strengths is forcing teams to play their way, as uncomfortably as possible. It’s the same strength that Drake exerted to make our two best scorers look like they gave their basketball powers to the Monstars. Indiana let us do exactly what we wanted, Houston will most definitely not, and that ability wins you a lot of games in March.

I like Miami‘s ability to win this game more than I did before the weekend, but it’s not because I’m pretending Houston is overrated. They aren’t. If they were all y’all should be clean and jerking those 7.5 points up to 3.5 with how much money you’re putting on our boys.
