Opening line: FSU -12

No one should think about betting this, one way or the other, until we have a look at the Arky St. road game.

This smells like a - FSU loading up the box against a conservative Richt - kind of game where Walton gets 2.3 ypc and FSU is playing with a short field all night. And that's before factoring turnovers. Pass.

Spot on! Going to be interesting to see what the staff does to score points.

Unless Richt really mixes it up this is how many thinks the game will play out. Their DEs aren't the strongest run defenders and Nnadi is the only interior threat imo unless Marvin Wilson lives up to that 5* ranking; we could just attack them on the ground until their DL gets tired out like Michigan State did against Michigan last year.

Can we not start that again this season...

People on here pushed that same narrative of "I want FSU undefeated when we play", but why?

I know, I know "strength of schedule", but the reality is SOS doesn't matter when you're Power 5 school & marquee program.

If you handle your business & just win the games, they'll put you where you need to be, the old BCS days of going undefeated & still not getting the vote are over. No, we are NOT going undefeated this season, but that's not even the point I'm making...

For me it's pretty simple, I don't want to see FSU win, I don't care how it makes the conference look, the ACC has 2 National title appearances since the new playoff format was started & has been a participant in it every single year.

Winning the ACC is a 100% guarantee into the CFB Playoffs, we're not the Pac-12 or the Big XII, we don't need any parlor tricks to get in if we handle our business & in 2018 you'll see that happen.

But basically, **** FSU, I don't want them to win ****, they're a rival & them winning only helps their program.

They've beaten us 7x in a row, maybe just maybe we shouldn't be rooting for them to beat Bama, maybe we should hope our hated rivals lose.

I'm rooting for FSU over Alabama and it has zero to do with SOS. There are only a few schools that affect our ability to get the recruits that we want and FSU is currently on that list. Alabama is. Ohio State is. Clemson is. And Georgia is. Just look at our targets and it seems like the two programs, FSU and Us, come to different conclusions in our evaluations - even when we look at the same kids. But, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia seem to be in lock step with us. UF...I just don't see them in the same league as us; I don't care what they do as long as they beat Georgia and lose to FSU.

An 8-3 UGA weakens Kirby Smart and allows Us to recruit Georgia better (They're recruiting better nationally than we are. How is that possible? They're NOT a national program, we are. Three 5* QB's in 3 cycles?!?!?). The shine comes off Clemson if they don't play for the conference championship (a loss to FSU and hopefully Auburn accomplishes that), possibly flipping recruits who have a wait and see attitude with us.

Now, I'm as delusional/enlightened as any Cane fan so you will not be surprised to read me write that I expect us to win the entire regular season, of course beating FSU...that enhances our profile and changes the perceptions in the minds of coaches and recruits, and front runners, that it's true; that the Canes are back. That they're not risking their shot at the league. That the train is fast and has few seats...hop on, now. I'm rooting for FSU to also beat Clemson and Louisville, and I expect us to beat FSU for the second time in the championship game (I'm also rooting for Oklahoma to beat Ohio State because they will always be our recruiting rival as long as Meyer is there). I want there to be a debate about whether FSU should play in the playoff after losing twice to Us but beating both Bama and UF...it won't happen but it would further invalidate the SEC champion and elevate us. I also want Texas to lose at least 4 games because that's an area we should recruit better. Chess, not checkers.

That said, I've never been an FSU hater. And probably never will be. When Barry Switzer and Steve Spurrier and a few other teams with big name coaches took us off their schedule FSU was the only real team that stepped up. It created the legend, the lore, of FSU/Miami. At their expense, lol, but they stood up - and we raised their profile too. It eclipsed EVERY OTHER rivalry. The relationship, no matter how toxic is simbiotic. Plus, when we needed a conference, our biggest cheerleader was...FSU. UF would NEVER allow another Florida team to join the SEC.

But it also may come down to the fact that I am a Florida football snob. I rep Florida kids. If it were up to me, thankfully it's not, the conference would be all Florida Schools (Kind of like the old ACC or SWC). The only Florida kids I don't rep are the kids that go to the one school that I will never root for. Ever. Ever. (If they had to beat a team so that we made the playoffs I still wouldn't root for them. It sickens me when our fans call them a rival when the only reason they're relevant is because we got cheated 30 years ago. I'm still mad.)

Too long a post to be the first one, I know.

My opinion on who to root for has zero to do with SOS, it has to do with recruiting. I will be rooting for FSU to beat Alabama.

Our biggest recruiting rivals are Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State and Georgia along with FSU. But, we don't seem to be having a war with FSU on the recruiting trail; we are picking athletes, they are picking other athletes. Our commits and targets are not prioritizing FSU.

I'm delusional enough to believe that Miami can win it all this year, but we also need to get all of the recruits for next year and beyond. The time is now for others to fall so we can be the beneficiary just as they were the beneficiary of our stumbles (Donna, previous coaches...).

I am going to hope FSU beats Alabama, Clemson, Louisville and Florida; making them 11-1 to face us in the playoffs in the ACC championship game. My delusion allows that a debate will be whether a 2-loss FSU should be allowed in the National Championship playoff over an SEC champion that lost to FSU (AL or UF). Do yo get that, invalidating the SEC! Which in turn lessens our recruiting against SEC Schools. We're dead-enders, but recruits and their parents are not - they'll have to be shown.

I also want:
- Florida: lose to FSU and beat Georgia (don't care if they're 11-1 as long as they lose to FSU)
- Georgia: lose at least 3 regular season games, hopefully 4 (Richt is still beloved but damaged goods in the State of GA; Kirbys killing GA)
- Clemson: lose to FSU, Auburn and VT (I know they're rival, but we're more nation than they are...it'll matter on the trail)
- OSU: lose to OK and, cross my fingers, PSU.
- LSU: loss to UF and AL and hopefully Tx A&M
- AL: we have to get the South Florida frontrunners (and the national ones) minds off of Saban. If they don't play for NAT or the SEC (Yes, I'm rooting for UF to beat them...)
- SC: Muschamp is making headway in S. Fl, it must be stopped.
- Texas: lose 4-5 games. Hermans has the "buzz" of Richt; have to delay their ascent so we begin to recruit TX better.

FSU is the ONLY "rival" we control. We own them twice and let the commit solidification and others commits flipping commence.

For a recruit and their parents it comes down to "promise" (us) or "proof" (unfortunately, them: AL, OSU, FSU, Clemson...).
