Is it just me, or has our WR blocking drastically improved. Not only have I noticed it on our quick screens, but even on outside runs. Our WRs are driving their defenders off the ball and out of the play. It was evident on a few of Duke's big runs vs GT. I don't know if this is due to McDonald's coaching last year or that Carroll being a TE coach, is coaching these WRs up in blocking techniques.

I think it's also a function of doing more of those WR bubble creens/flats passes that requires the WR to block more. It's more emphasized.

Even Dorsett has been one to be a key guy in springing long runs.

The Wr's did a nice job blocking last year as well if I remember correctly. I think a lot of it has to do with him preaching this is a team and making guys play for the team instead of themselves. You get Duke selling out to break Waters on a huge TD run, and the WR's know for Duke to break the long runs they need to do there job downfield.

I'd say it goes back to strength and conditioning. It seems to be the root of almost all of our problems in the past.

I haven't seen many missed tackles yet this year.

I can't recall a single one, honestly. Now, I'm sure there have been missed tackles, but that's a remarkable turnaround from last season alone, and the past decade. When was the last time we had a team was this fundamentally sound?

That is something that bugged the **** out of me with the last couple of staffs. We didnt know how to get those cheap yards with the athletes we had. If you are ay practice starting with Fisch they show the WR how to block and how to attack a corners outside leg to cut him. Where ever the person with the ball is trying to run the blocking wr is funneling him there by taking out that Corners leg.

We never did this type of stuff before, and it was soo simple. We just tried to outathlete teams and when that stopped working whether the talent level went down or opponents caught up we were always in some type of dogfight. Even with the likes of Duke

I see all of this as a function of his Utough program. Whether its WR's blocking or open field tackling, the individual play in space is what folks here are really talking about. To me, that's a sign that guys are stronger than their competitors.

Dorsett is always down field blocking for Duke or other receivers. I believe he talked about it in one of his interviews.

The whole teams attitude is of teamwork and unity. Much different that teams of recent past.

EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME IS BETTER UNDER GOLDEN!!!!!!

We never used to jump offsides on kickoffs under Shannon. That's one thing that Golden just can't seem to perfect.

WR block was pathetic against Florida. No way around it, god awful performance there. I suspect a lot of teams will have that same problem against them, but definitely an indication that there is work to be done to say the least.

Not to be a debbie downer, but you can't bring up something like that and not mention the glaring issues we had against them.

This team is better in all facets of the game because this staff pays attention to detail.

Well our OLINE was also terrible against Florida, doesn't mean that we have glaring issues on that unit also. Florida was just the biggest and toughest team we will probably face, not to mention it was only our second game of the year. Also both of Florida's corners are on the nfl draft top 25 big board...says a lot about those guys.

Mcdermott was playing most of that game on a bad wheel and we just got gashed up the gut. They are a very good defense, and a very good secondary. As good as we have seen in YEARS IMO, not to toot their horn but with Easley still in there I'm not sure how many teams would have been able to beat them, even with Driskell stinking up the joint. He wasn't any better last year and they won 11 games for a reason.

I'm not saying it hasn't improved, I just wanted to point out that in our one real test in that department, we got ROCKED so theres work yet to be done in the WR blocking department.

Tackling. That's by far the most noticeable improvement I've seen. Open field and gang-tackling.
