One thing a lot are overlooking is the fact teams like FSU are not just bringing in classes full of 4 and 5 star recruits, they're also being able to redshirt a lot of these guys, or if they're not redshirting them, they're playing on special teams or as backups. We're barely able to redshirt guys, and we're throwing guys to the wolves. A lot of our best recruits had no business playing as much as they did as freshman. Guys like Chickillo, Howard, Bush, Perryman and some others, in an ideal world, would have been redshirts or special teamers their first year. We're not there yet. People can whine and complain and blame Golden for not winning the big game, or blame Coach D, or this and that, but until we can redshirt these guys and until we're reloading, which isn't this year, and won't even be next year, we're not "back."

Fisher took over for Bowden and they just reloaded.

Golden took over for Shannon and is in year 3 of a complete rebuild.

The Miami job was a complete rebuild job plain and simple. Just like it took years to destroy what was built, it will take years to rebuild it.

Yup toss in one of the worst "investigations" in history and it's been a terrible decade

Shannon didn't leave Golden with much of anything. We just need to get back to the point where the great majority of our players are kids top teams wanted. Regardless of where your program is at, top talent is going to play early. FSU has true freshmen and sophomores playing big minutes pretty much at all levels of their defense.

Saban took over a **** storm at Bama, and had them kicking *** right off the bat. At some point, fans gotta open their eyes and see the reality of the situation. We're 7-1 with a soft *** schedule. We haven't looked good against any elite teams in forever. Florida has no offense whatsoever and we barely beat them. It's time to start playing aggressive football again, and hit teams in the mouth first. Golden is a great guy, good recruiter and very articulate. He and the staff just need to get better on Gameday and stop being scared of winning. We almost lost a game with 16 seconds to go a few weeks ago for playing that bullshyt defense. Wasting the talents of these young bucks that want to go kill the QB by making them play soft. SMDH!!!

To all who want to neg me, you all need to start remembering what a REAL Canes defense looks like. Have our fans really become this soft? Have our standards become so low? I suggest you go back and watch the GREAT UM defenses. None of them played soft. All of them where attack mode all the time and then some. The only way to make a great QB nervous is by hitting him all day. This is true in every level of football. Also, you can't play this gap control bullshyt and ever expect to be dominant again. It is what it is.

Last but not least, **** you to anyone calling me a troll or having an agenda. I'm a die-hard, old-school Canes fan and have been a supporter since some of you were in diapers. Golden is great in many categories as I said, but he needs to change his philosophies to get better. It all starts with instilling a sense of we're going out there to punch the other team in the mouth first and we're gonna step on their throats after we have them down, like the old-school Canes teams. I, sadly, have not seen this from Golden's teams. Hopefully, he'll start to evolve in his coaching philosophies and let these guys just play.

please if losing to Louisiana Monroe is kicking *** right off the bat then sure Saban did. But it took Saban time and he didn't have to deal with an NCAA investigation.

You do have to consider how Saban is getting his guys. Golden plays it by the book and has to since the program is on probation the next 3 years. You finally now are starting to hear about money exchanging hands at Bama. Give golden some time, IMO we're doing well with what we have this year. I didn't think we'd have only 1 loss after FSU.

Please, do some research before you start talking nonsense. Saban had one mediocre season at Bama, his first. After that, they started kicking ***.

Here is his coaching record:

http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/coaches/nick-saban-1.html

Shula had talent there. He won 10 games one year. Saban was also 7-6 with a loss to UL-Monroe his first year and a blowout loss to Utah it the Sugar Bowl his second year. Some people act like Saban won a title his first year. People also act like Saban hadn't already won a title at LSU, coached at MSU and in the NFL.

UM is the Big Leagues of Collegiate Football. You don't come to the U to "learn" how to coach as you go. This isn't triple-A or the NBDL. Either you can or you can't. I understand that Golden has had to deal with a lot of bullshyt, starting with the NCAA **** storm. I also hate what Randy "No Clue" Shannon did to our once great program. But, you can't stop the sun from blinding you with one thumb. He has recruited well based on the crap he's had to deal with. But, recruiting well isn't enough if you coach scared. Most teams that play this prevent bullshyt only prevent themselves from winning. Hopefully as our talent keeps on improving, he'll change his scheme some. If he doesn't, I don't ever see us being elite again.

I agree with canethegaytor. I too am an old school cane fan. We are not aggressive enuff. I do feel we have enuff talent to compete with fsu. I did not see any fire in these boys last night. We are a soft team.

If you want to discount the double whammy of Coker & Shannon driving the program into the dirt + the NCAA ****storm making recruiting doubly hard then there's no help for you.

The truth is, for those paying close attention to detail, that Golden is doing an admiral job. He's said all year we are not back - we're rebuilding and I believe him. I like the trajectory and patience is required if you want to avoid being miserable.

Losing to FSU is painful - but they only do it to us consistently when we are on probation. I can live with that fact.

look at the players we use aggressively. McCord and AQM. the young pups. AQM, Coley and Jermanie Grace are probably redshirting if at FSU this year.

Al Golden has already talked about this, he said we're a great team right now, but still a long way from being a great program.

When you start seeing future stars backing up stars, that's when you know we're coming. Next year i think you'll see a lot of that with all the nasty recruits we got coming in.

Your crazy
- Our best Rush D-line man is a Frosh
- Our TWO best LB's from last year's team got dismissed in the of season
- And our safety was a QB 2 years ago

Look at the long TD by FSU, we blitzed and a 10 year pass went for 50 yards untouched. He is coaching scared bc he is scared of their talent vs out talent.

Give it time and we will compete

i wish he would let jamal carter play. cant be worse than aj. i will tell you this, on that play were aj went for the INT. carter's instincts would have been to try and behead kelvin.

Everyone loves to use Nick Saban at Bama as the benchmark for turning around a program. Truth is, that example is an anomaly, not the norm. Please do better when coming up with crap to feel bad about.

In all honesty, right now we have A LOT of average talent on the field on the defensive side; Tyrone Cornelius, AJ Highsmith, Shayon Green, Jimmy Gaines, Kacy Rodgers, Olsen Pierre, etc.

I think this is the product of still having Shannon guys seeing the light of day. Five of those guys are seniors.... those are suppose to be the guys carrying the load for your team, but we consistently seeing them doing the complete opposite. I still feel we have too many players being put in positions to do things that they aren't capable of doing yet.

This could also be due to the fact the NCAA cloud has inhibited us from recruiting more 4 and 5 stars (I'm not a huge star *****, but i definitely take the stars into consideration. With all the accessibility we have to recruits nowadays, scouting has improved a lot and stars are very telling). The past couple recruiting classes have been amazing given the circumstances, but as a result you still see a handful of players that you wonder will ever contribute to this team.

The most exciting thing about this team imo is the fact we have a bunch of players with that aren't the most talented people in the world, playing their asses off and playing above their capabilities. Now that the handcuffs are off, Al Golden is gonna start getting the best talents and instill the same **** he's doing now. We're gonna see a lot of stars playing with the type of passion we saw in 2000 and even in the 80s. That's when we're back, and i feel it's only 2 years away at the max.
