One down

Those forced QB power runs were sickening. Just wasting downs. King is a great runner on scrambles. He's not a great runner on designed QB run plays. How many times do we go empty and run the QB up the back of the OL.
This x 1000000

Lashlee is an improvement sure, but he's still got major deficiencies. Running this play over and over is one of them

This doesn't get me as tumescent as Jermaine Johnson. Maybe I'm a star *****. I don't care anymore. Everything sucks. Why did I choose to become a Miami fan.

Ask myself that way too often, lol. I feel you, cuz. I feel alot better than I did last night. Last night was the most ****ed that I have been in quite some time regarding this team. Now, I am just laughing but I am absolutely sick to my stomach for D’eriq though.

Crib with how much on edge we are about defensive coaches not a good thread title! Lol

on to this kid if we get him, couple of things. there’s no J. Phillips in this portal. Although only 6’3 he’s long and has a high motor. Kid would fall into the rotation and make lots of plays for us. To me he’s a better prospect than Roche is. **** sure a better run stopper.

Exactly, and this is the problem with being reliant on the portal because of recruiting/evaluation failures. You're stuck choosing from what's available and you still have to recruit the kids you want against other schools trying to fill holes on their depth charts.

The portal is a crutch, not a pillar. If we don't consistently nail evaluations and land blue-chip croot who we can develop, we'll never have tbe depth to compete outside the Corstal.

And I'm not knocking this kid, moreso the idea that the portal will always be lush with former blue-chippers and they'll all want to come to Miami. We were fortunate to land Phillips, Roche, Bolden and King, but there's also Tommy Kennedy, Tate, Bouleware, the DE from VT who largely underwhelmed.

Right the portal should be used to fill in depth.

What I don't understand is OCs running things that they just haven't run anywhere else in their career. Lashlee wasn't a huge read-option guy at SMU. Maybe with Malzahn but our run scheme makes Auburn's look like the freaking Ravens. Enos was gonna run multiple formation, motions and counters and sweeps like he did everywhere else ("Spread Coast"?) and then he just didn't. **** people were excited for the wide open and QB friendly offense Richt was going to run. Why? Because he ran it everywhere else. Except here.

Why is it that Miami is the place where OCs decide to reinvent the freaking wheel?

Imo he’s a better player , more complete. Just different .

i see more Philips than roche. Sizes and motors are comparable. He had 3.5 less sacks than Philips while playing far better competition , playing olb and not being able to rush as freely. Him in a 4-3 is a perfect match, he’ll probably come close to doubling sacks in this defense.

I could see that. If I were to compare him to Phillips I see the same motor.

i understand that but can’t be worse than Scaife and Clarke
That’s true but based off of playing time at WR, CB, LB earlier in the season, does anything about this team scream meritocracy? The coaches do not trust youth and would rather watch upperclassmen make the same mistakes for the 300th time.

So we rolling with this? With Don Brown or Bud Foster coming out of retirement or Derrick Mason or Charlie Strong running the defense?

DE-Harvey
DT-Silvera
DT-Harrison-Hunte
DE-Johnson
LB-Brooks
LB-Flagg
LB-Frierson
CB-Couch
CB-Portal star
S-Bolden
S-Hall or James Williams or Avantae

No one is relying on the portal. We did have 3 players at the same position leave early to go first rd. What you suggest we do? This what big time programs deal with. We’re just so far removed from that, we’re in this situation now.
