For every Cam Ward a Will Rogers exists. Chandler Morris only has 1 year as a starter in a very mediocre league. Fernando Mendoza was not taking us to 10 wins with the supporting cast we have. The portal is hit or miss and outside of a few guys the results fluctuate.
HS QB's are even more hit or miss than the Portal.
There's no way to know what a QB may or may not do given a different circumstance on a new team.
3 of the 4 teams in the Final 4 of the playoffs are Portal QB's. And of the 12 that made the playoffs, 6 of them were from the Portal.
The 4 best QB's in the Nation this season were Portal QB's.
What team is dominating with their HS recruited QB? Penn ST maybe? Who else?
With Portal QB's you know what you're getting because you have film of them playing actual College competition. HS QB's are for the most part a lot of smoke & mirrors, because there's a ton of HS QB's who can look really good against extremely weak comp.
Then, you add on the political aspect of HS rankings that are based on camps & which teams are recruiting them & it creates the situation where there will be more busts on the HS market than ever before.
Go take a look at the 22 QB class, literally 2 of the top 50 QB's have played well, the rest have been garbage.
Same for the 23 class, it's pretty much 2 that have been any good & the rest is dust in the wind.
What is more likely to you, Miami ends up as one of the teams that actually hits on one of the 2 QB's per class ratio, or us being able to find an already productive Portal QB?
