On a couple CB targets…

With their evals, coaches haven't earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to DBs. Go get the guys who have proven it on the field and pay them a lot. Plug and play starters first. Then go get the guys who have the characteristics you want for depth/future teams.
What position has earned benefit of the doubt?

This kid has college tape out and he doesn't look good. This is against UCF by the way.

Yet you're posting his HS film here and commenting about his length and how he moves like they're evaluating a high school player.

No need to evaluate and project him..he played in college already against D1 guys and he's not very good.

There's a bunch of kids out there who are in the portal and have looked GOOD against D1 wide receivers. And none of them are visiting or getting offers?

Yikes.

Its time to figure out who is actually responsible for evaluating DBs in this program. If Mario keeps his hands out of it because it's not his specialty or whatever, time to re-evaluate. Actually, beyond time for that.

This kid has no business visiting here. Don't care if he's a serious target or not.

who the **** is doing the evauls. I'm sitting at my desk at work and I can give you the top 5 CB's in the portal. Aint none of them start with Emmanuelle Karnley or Chasen Johnson. Jesus Christmas, we couldn't have sucked more last year in the back end and we out here shopping Great Value brands.

As reported by Gaby Urrutia at 247, Arizona transfer CB Emmanuel Karnley is set to visit Miami this weekend. He is from the East Bay area of California (between Oakland and Stockton). A Miami source says he has elite length (6'3), he's twitchy, fluid, and moves like a smaller guy. "Sticky in coverage and physical. Would have made us a lot better this year."

I understand the negativity at the position given the recent history, but I'll note that his first visit is to Ole Miss (which has a strong track record with Portal DBs) and his next visit is to Michigan.

I don't get the sense that Chasen Johnson from UCF is a significant target.

We expect to take 2-3 CBs.

If we expect to take 2-3 CBs, and we take this guy, its a safe bet we'd take 2 more, right??

Because if we only take 2 and he's 1 of them, it would be like we only took 1 CB.

I'm a Mario guy, but there's no way to defend this. We don't have the room to kick the can down the road again.

Who is selecting our DB targets? Is it Guidry? Lord help us if it is. Is it Dennis? Lord help us if it is.

Unless you over pay, why would any elite kid want to play in Miami? It is madness to be in this situation regardless if you move forward with or without Guidry.

Richard and Hill returning makes me sick to my stomach.

Mario needs to resolve our defensive issues.

Slap the U logo on that kid, he's ready to play for us.

Maybe there's bigger names out there that we land but if this is the strategy...

We just wasted a Heisman QB and undefeated season because our DBs are terrible and this is what they're doing in response to that?

If they legitimately bring in a bunch of project CBs then I'll assume 1 of 2 things. Either our NIL has collapsed or the staff is absolutely incompetent.

Our recruiting and mainly our close showed us we have NIL issues compared to the last 2 seasons, don't care what the some posters here try to sell us on.
