Venables seat is SCORCHING HOT.

He's had plenty of time through S1G5.

It's so bad, Big Game Bob* had to hype man for him.

*who lost to Boise State Statue of Liberty play

I mean is he though? We can debate Mario’s faults but he has won a major bowl and multiple conference titles as a HC. Venables has never been an HC. The resumes aren’t remotely the same.

He's not. It's such a dumb statement.

The last time Oklahoma lost more than 2 games in a season was 2014. Ten of the last eleven full seasons have been double digit wins. Riley wasn't fired, he was so successful he left for another opportunity. That Oklahoma team is well established and any new coach coming in should be able to keep the machine running. This is Ryan Day taking over for Urban Meyer and not skipping a beat. That's the level Venables should be held to.

Miami has had double digit win seasons once in 19 years. Our last 4 seasons have had 7, 8, 6, and 7 wins. Yet here with are with a bunch of morons on a message board complaining that the team sucks in the first year of a new coach that's trying to DRASTICALLY alter the culture.

****. Can’t believe as a ‘Canes fan I’m relegating to envy stuff like this. Sounds like fantasy land, even though we were once on that level.

The point is fans love the allure of hiring "one of us" because they understand the brand, etc etc. That's the only parallel I was making. You guys were inserting all of these other metrics why they're not exact parallels. That wasn't the argument.

Thought this was funny..

"I felt the State of Oklahoma needed an appropriate goodbye to this former head coach whose sudden departure left many in shock, including a team of young, delicate college players," Coleman said.

Fixed that typo for Mr. Coleman.

To be fair, they lost both their starting QB and backup to the portal. They also lost multiple blue chip receivers. It’s not easy to recover from that in one season.

Oklahoma is gonna be just fine. Riley and his QB’s were the offense. Not to mention the recievers they lost as well. Yes Lebby is good, but they’re starting a G5 QB after they had about 4 straight guys who either won the Heisman or were the preseason favorites. When you can’t score 40 a game, there’s no more masking an awful defense that’s been that way for 6-8 years. Their margin for error was much smaller than people realized.

If he loses to Texas on Saturday look out. Three losses in a row for a fanbase that hasn’t done a ton of losing lately

Supposedly locker room culture was a mess. Defense needs to be built up from literal scratch

While that all sounds entirely reasonable, Its going to take me a minute to process it after spending all season hearing how a particular scheme would mask all those offensive deficiencies while having fun. Especially one ran by Jeff Lebby
