OJ Frédérique (Is Not Hurt)

It’s hard for me to gauge how good he is really is. He looks great. Is he phenomenal and having a Bain like true freshman year? Or is he good-really good and the other DBs are so bad that it makes him appear like he’s playing like a Ty Law?

It might be a mix of both. Maybe @Memnon or @Coach Macho could shed a bit more light on how well he really is playing.

I am going to be a contrarian here. I've been a huge OJF fan since his recruitment heated up. But I've also felt like this season didn't really prove he's "top". He wasn't being targeted most of the time because other receivers were more open than his. Then, when Cuse targeted his receiver, he got scorched multiple times. Now that's on film for opposing OCs and QBs in 2025 to see.

So I worry he's a really good candidate for a sophomore slump. IMO, we cannot be confident OJ will look as good next season. He definitely needs to improve his S&C and contested catch skills.

OJ got that humble pie, and hope he doesn’t forget it all off season

Iowa State has some good WRs so hopefully they attack him as well but he responds to it unlike Syracuse. We def need to see that growth from him

Let’s be fair here. OJF faced one of the biggest receiving cores in CFB and god bullied and bodied. 6’4 and 6’5 is just different. He held up fine with the faster , smaller guys. He was a true freshmen that got baptized that day and he’ll learn from it.

All three leaders in contested catches by some distance.

The sophmore slump or the first season peak and then fall off after is another tradition that needs to be broken around here asap.. Bain seemed to be unable to do it this season so the tradition continues.. unlike any other..

Absolutely. I'm just pointing out that now other teams can study his weaknesses on film and will try to exploit it. This is when "taking that next step forward" becomes critical for him. And the timetable for that is unpredictable.

No issue with OJ that game. He just got cooked but was really good all things considered for the season. I don’t know why we kept leaving him on an island though.

Do we? Or are the safeties just out of position? Can't tell most of the time.
