not to be too corny but things went a bit worse for MSU vs Iowa, up 12 with abt a minute...

So what did we really learn out of this ?
Yes we do miss Nijel Pack even more for he has not only been a scoring threat but has emerged as a leader of this team. Wong on the other hand could have been a little more vocal and intense but we have seen that all year. Norshad same thing needs to be more of a leader.

So if this team truly is an elite club and one game literally shows nothing….. going forward this team has to communicate better and it’s as simple as that.👍❤️

We’ve learned that we take for granted teams we should beat soundly.
This is a bad brew , you don’t lead by 25 and blow it at home.

This will show it’s face again

What we learned from this game is that Wong is a poor defender on the dribble drive and that Coach L doesn't believe in or have a zone defense he can switch to or utilize.

You can spin it any way you want, but this comes down to poor coaching.

We have seen it before over the years. How do you explain the late meltdowns this year at GT and Pitt?

IMO, you lay it at the feet of Coach L. Coach Ham made adjustments and schooled him in the 2nd half.
Miller in the postgame presser said the guys came out flat in the second half and made a lot of mistakes. Fact is, the players have to execute. This team has come out motivated and ready to play each game this season, so I'm chalking the loss up to overconfidence after going up by 25 points.

No question that's what happened, and almost every team up that much does the same. Generally the team ahead does enough to get it together and win the game. Problem was Miami decided to let FSU run layup drills for the 2nd half and they shot the lights out. Even still Miami made the plays they needed down the stretch to win and it took a shot of a life time heave to lose it.

The tone at the beginning of the 2nd half said it all. It looked like a complete reversal of the first half. Layup after layup after layup. On our end turnover after turnover after turnover. I would have gone to zone, tried a 2-1-2 something. That was the worst defensive performance I have seen by us in a long time.

Omier needed to take up a defensive position where those easy drives were... THEY adjusted at halftime, our coaches didnt make him adjust (he doesnt have the defensive scheme skills the staff has, although he's a great asset to team) when they saw it (OR SHOULD HAVE)

As disappointing as this loss is I don't think it's a cause of major concern. Seems to me like our guys went into the locker room at halftime and started feeling themselves. As Bill Parcells used to say, "DON'T EAT THE CHEESE!!!" And our guys ate the cheese. Next game should tell us all we need to know going into post season play. I expect guys will come out refocused and energized. GO CANES!!

There is just way too much overthinking on the actions of one game. Momentum changed and once that happened we were swept up just like they were in the first half. No our defense is not suddenly horrible and yes Pack would have maybe made the difference but it didn’t happen that way and so we lost the game. A game🤔

I was there. It was an atrocious loss. There is no spinning it any other way. A comprehensive failure.

What concerns me the most, was that we literally made NO DEFENSIVE ADJUSTMENTS in this game.... a game we should have won easily... even without Pack. This kind of stuff gets you beat during tournament time. We're not gonna be hot from deep, every game. Some games you can't hit the broadside of a barn. In those games you have to win on the defensive end. I felt in this game, Coach L didn't give his kids a chance to win. I know he trusts his kids to "figure it out", and he's a **** good coach, but sometimes you gotta step in as a **** good coach, whether it's telling them to stop taking all of them **** 3s (when they're not falling), switching up your defense and packing the lane, therefore making them shoot shots that they can't shoot for a high percentage. We stayed in our base defense, and in the 2nd half, they made us pay, attacking the rim and got layup after layup. LH outcoached JL in this game, no doubt about it.

FSU in the 2nd half came out and did exactly what you'd expect: all-out attack the lane on offense, hoping to get quick buckets or force the zebras to make a call. It worked. Any team can have the first man get beat off the dribble, then someone has to rotate to help. We didn't help.

Coach didn't use TOs.

Joseph was playing ever worse, and was not substituted.

Offensively, we didn't adjust to their clogging the lane in the second half. You've got to move and pass against that. We chucked 3s and didn't move. We exposed the ball on drives and didn't pass.

It was as bad a half as possible. Total failure.

Agree on all points. We're too small to stop them once they get in the paint... so we gotta rotate and help when the primary defender gets beat off the dribble..... but our helpside D was non existent. That 2nd half was a total bed ****ting, that I lie totally at the feet of Coach L.
