I’ve been out of the game for a while but I’m getting back into it. Not much has changed. Just listened to this great Gary Parrish podcast on DJ Jeffries so I had to spread the knowledge, but the canes way. The game is still the game, word to the wire. I’m like cutty hoping out the pen.

QB - We’re reaching out to elite qbs behind the scenes but we’re behind the 8 ball. If I was on staff, I would’ve gone all out for taisun and the Daniels kid who is a UCLA lean. Now that UCLA looks a little better that’s a long shot but we could still flip taisun because our qb situation is a mess. Recruiting Sam Howell is a waste of time he’s going to FSU or will stay in state at UNC but I don’t think he flips. We really botched Taisun’s recruitment.

Mark / J Richt stop letting these young cats fool you. If a qb likes you they’ll commit early. MJJ never wanted to be here we were always a plan b so he strung us along until he found where he really wanted to be. You guys passed on taisun for no **** reason because MJJ ended up going to a school with a qb committed already.

I hope they don’t make the same mistakes in 2020. If they lock on to G. Span and Richt’s nephew (who both look good) without doing a full search then they didn’t learn their lesson. I wonder why they didn’t offer that Jax kid that tore it up at a summer camp

RB - we need to keep Crowley. That’s really the only thing that matters and everything else is gravy. MAR is an elite athlete and a legacy so we need to land him but I’m really not sure if his best position will be rb. If he’s hellbent on playing offense I’d also try him out at WR. With kids like MAR, Jeff thomas & DJ, we need to use them more creatively than just out of the backfield or as wr. We need to steal from other colleges there.

Kenny Mcintosh is a legacy but unless he wants to play lb, which he has no interest in besides doing it to help his hs team win games, then I’m fine with letting him go to OU or UGA. I think UGA would be a terrible career move for Kenny and I hope he goes to OU.

Great job recruiting T. Brown/Hartley. A lot of people killed you two for taking Crowley early (myself included) but you guys know more than me.

WR - I think we land Haselwood because I’m following the visits and common knowledge. You don’t decommit from uga two months before signing day to recommit there. They do have their official visit left so that’s something to monitor. Not really concerned here and think we land him.

Jeremih Payton is great and doesn’t get enough love. I also like that jones kid we’re recruiting but our wr room is STACKED so don’t know if there’s room for him. If we would open up our **** playbook everyone could get touches but that’s another conversation. Like Mike leach said, there’s nothing balanced about 50-50 if only 2 skill players instead of 5 are getting the ball.

Dugans you’re doing great

Side note: never get too concerned with wr. Here are the top 10 WRs from the 2012 class

1. Dorial Green Beckham
2. Stefon Diggs
3. Thomas Johnson
4. Deontay Greenberry
5. Amari Cooper
6. Chris Black
7. Cayley Jones
8. Germone Hopper
9. Durron Neal
10. Bryce Treggs

WR is very tough position to evaluate/predict much like QB, Oline, and DT. That’s why having a great coach like Dugans makes it a lot easier for us. Haselwood will be an absolute star if he comes to Miami imo

TE - Zip is going to Florida. Stop falling for his trolling. He knows brevin and Mallory are good. His school is a UF pipeline. He knows that he can play early at uf. If he miraculously comes here and brings summerall, that’s great. But it’d save you all some stress if you just stopped listening or watching what he says.

Love larry Hodges. Love the Texas kid too but with Texas A&M’s resurgence that’ll be hard to pull off. Hopefully patke and hartley can get that done. Regardless, we’re good with the te we have committed in 2020, brevin, and mallory. There’s only one football stop being so greedy thinking we need Zip. Kids aren’t built like that anymore to wait it out for 2-3 years. Again, that’s another discussion.

OLINE - Man we appear to be screwed. Our tackle prospect torn his labrum and also looks like he would better guard than tackle. I have torn both of my labrums and the commitment to physical therapy, when no one is watching you, is no joke. Hope he recovers fully. Kingsley will be a battle till the end because auburn has always had favor in Jax. Luckily, Hartley is the Howard schellenberger of Jax so we have a good chance there. Hartley if you read this you’re killin it.

We will try to recruit some JUCO oline but let’s see if that works out. Don’t think we’ve taken any JUCOs under Richt. I’m sure we’ll hit the grad transfer market

I’ll think we should take the Miami central kid as a regardless of what happens with Kingsley. We need more competition at oline.

Evan Neal will come down to logic vs heart. Nature vs nurture. Everything else is noise. We need to win out and show him that he become a first rounder here and become a trail blazer instead of another cog in Alabama’s wheel. Neal could be a first rounder at wymoning. This kid is very dedicated and self sufficient & he doesn’t need Saban. All these coaches know the same techniques more or less.

It wasn’t Nick Saban who completely transformed Neal’s body, fitness, diet and health. It was Neal. If you come to Miami you’ll be more than fine. Alabama also doesn’t have that south Florida heat which will make you better. Come home Neal

Fat kids love their moms and Neal was a fat kid growing up. It’s going to be momma Neal and family vs Nick Saban until signing day. We’ve lost a bunch of these but I still get on the rollercoaster every **** time. Strap up

Darius Washington took his official visit here and we still have 0 crystal balls so I’m not expecting him. Would be a major pull but we haven’t had any of those recently (oline wise) so again, not expecting him.

We have no **** tackles. We need to stop being greedy. We should’ve offered the kid that’s committed to UF, W.W. The fact that our staff thinks we have the luxury to pass on a Miami kid with his physical traits is beyond me.

Take my assumptions or leave em. Interested to hear your comments

Side note: I’m going to chaminade / uschool on Friday if anyone wants to meet up PM me

Great post with a lot of insight!!!

Baby Richt visited MJJ a lot. Spring evals are the most important time to visit qbs because they usually decide by the end of the summer.

I don't think we do either. We switch what we want every cycle. I think Richt prefers Arthur Sitowski/Max Johnson types but also understands that he can't afford to pass on a Jarren Williams when that 1st option doesn't hit. The only reason we got Jarren Williams is because our recruits became good friends with him at the Opening and told CMR and Williams didn't want to go to UK. That's a fact. And we still wouldn't have gotten him if Sitowski didn't decommit.

If Big Arm QBs is the preference, we should have never wasted our time with MJJ. Someone who is more of an athlete than a pure QB

Richt recruits QBs like he play calls...**** is just supposed to fall into place, no need to do anything out of character and dare to catch anyone off guard.

UM

That really just baffles me. Malzahn actually does the same thing at Auburn. You'd think these offensive coaches would have a good idea of what they were looking for.

By the way, enjoyed your post. Look forward to you doing this more often.

Sit was asked to decommitt.

".....we need to use them more creatively than just out of the backfield or as wr. We need to steal from other colleges there. "
That would require a whole revamping of Richt's offensive philosophy. Even a new OC would not be able to do that unless Richt is ready to totally stay out of the OC's game planning and philosophy. I give that a slim chance of happening.

"OLINE - Man we appear to be screwed. "
Then unless we hire an OL-coach that can forward the development of the players we have at tackle and also the other OL positions this will be SOS next year. Searels has shows not he cannot do it. Richt is going to have to decide to Searels or have another so-so year. This decision rests totally on Richt.

The way Richt has shown stubbornness so look for Searels to be in he same position next year. Another year of poor offensive line performance.

Well said!!!!!!

OT is a big need. We go after Neal (bama/Miami), Washington (MissSt), Wright(?) and let Wilson (UF), Pope (UK), and Morris (Mich) slide. Going to be really ****ed if we don't land any of the six. We seem to be putting a lot of eggs in landing elite kids.

If St Thomas has an OT that's solid enough for an SEC type no sure why we never even sniffed. Boateng is solid as well. Honestly they couldve land 1 or 2 OT's locally..then shoot shot with the big dogs.

Tarquin is a project regardless...and alot like the current guys we have out at OT after i watched him at Paradise. He's a take but if he is a take..definately guys like Smith (Central) and another local guy should be takes. This is actually a solid year locally for OL....and we are sitting holding our d*cks waiting for Neal to go bama (its coming) Wright out of west virginia (was a severe longshot)..really makes no sense to me...considering our tackle situation is/has been a clusterf*ck. Every elgible Juco Tackle should be offered as well.

Agreed. We need 2 of the local OT's minimum.

If a high 4* OOS kid doesn't visit by the end of the summer, we won't get them 95% of the time. We got AQM once he couldn't get into ND. Jarren Williams is another exception but he wanted to get away from UK.

Re: Wright

We need 4-5 OL this year. One is hurt and the other could end up at Auburn. We have 6-8 local kids heading to P5 programs and we have none. Call me crazy but that is a BIG problem. Searles has to go. Can’t coach like Kul and can’t recruit so we have no room for him. Jr for a good OC. Brown for a RB/ST coach.

He is not yet committed, We have not offered. Cannot be grades with a 4.15 GPA.
Guy moves well, has loose hips and very long arms. He is almost 300 pounds now at 6-4/6-5. Strength is the most easily developed quality as look has what has happened to our EE guys line fro example Rousseau went from 220 to 250 and bench went from 260 to 330 pounds in 6 months.

We will try to recruit some JUCO oline but let’s see if that works out. Don’t think we’ve taken any JUCOs under Richt. I’m sure we’ll hit the grad transfer market
On the Defensive Side we took Jhavonte Dean from JUCO
