The best lineup appears to be…

Bell
Rivers
Carpenter
Cooper
Cici

Man that lineup was mauling Duke and opening huge lanes to run through.

Check out this pocket for Cam.

Where does Samson fit in now? Expect a transfer? Because Bell and Cici are the tackles next year with McCoy and Cooper at guards.

RR getting snaps anytime soon? That gives us 7 starters for the year.

Next year should be interesting. Do we take another C in the portal? Tripp, Nino, SJ, RR

Bell, Samson, Francis - OT
McCoy, Cooper(assuming he stays), RR- OG
RR, Nino, Tripp, SJ- C

The OL controversy, if it’s enough to call it that, is all because they seem afraid to hurt Bell/McCoy’s feelings and want to give them both playing time because they “earned it”.

I think it’s obvious McCoy is the weak link. He or Cooper loses the most 1on1 in pass pro, penalized more than anyone, and gets no push in the run game. It was a different offense when Bell came in and we shift Rivers to guard. It took a few plays, it actually caused a problem on a few plays when he first came in with blitz pickups and assignments. There was a miscommunication and it stalled a drive.

Just pick 5 and roll with it. Both have played plenty this year and there will be spots to go around next year. Shouldn’t be any hurt feelings now.

A few that know what their talking about have said Rivers best position may very well be guard. Mario has said several times Bell has earned playing time. Can’t at this point put Bell at guard so it makes sense to put Rivers at guard and Bell at LT.
Rivers was a guard here until Mario came and put him at LT. He will likely play G in the nfl too

Samson is commanding a big NIL package I would imagine, so interesting to see what happens with him.

Some 5 stars arent ready to play early, some are.

I would imagine Samson isnt going to be a 1st round OL at this point, but im sure he can develop into a quality starter at some
Point. It may or may not be here

This photo also shows no one is open. Our WRs have problem getting open against good dbs so Shannon has to find a way to scheme them open against teams with good defenses.
I will agree that it seems that our receivers are not getting open like they were last year, but that is due to a couple reasons. Mainly one reason.

Teams are not stacking the box this year like they were last year and daring us to throw. Another reason why our run game is much better this year. We have a competent qb that will pick them apart. Cam has to deal with a lot more defenders in the secondary than TVD. Look at some of those photos from last year. TVD had his choice of 2-3 wide open receivers, but he couldn't make the throw to any of them because he couldn't read a defense.

Most of these defenses are just rushing 4 guys and hoping they get to Cam before our receivers get open. It's worked sometimes and Cam gets frustrated. This is when he needs to take that check down or run. Cam is so confident in his abilities, he will wait and wait for the play to develop. But it is more difficult for our receivers to get open immediately when facing more defenders in the secondary.

We seem well positioned for the line to be a strong point next with the returning starters and guys who have played meaningful snaps. Throw in a couple young guys making big leaps this offseason and we’ll be fine at oline.

Bell, McCoy, cooper, Francisco, Rodriguez

Like I said in another thread - this is like buying a 90k truck that isn't dependable enough to drive on the highway - so you leave it parked or just drive it in the yard.
