OC Thomas Brown discusses RB rotation after FAMU

“Primarily going into each game, I will probably play the top two guys for a majority of the reps,” Brown said. “Both of those guys have shown to be equally as productive on the field, but I think Gus demands the opportunity to be able to be on the field and I’m going to some things from a game plan standpoint to try to get him involved without having to take somebody else off the field.”

Would not mind seeing him at FB with either Yearby or Walton at all...

If no one's coming off the field does this mean Marquez, Walton -or- Yearby, to include Gus on the field at the same time?? Maybe the Wishbone is coming!!!! Hahaha!!!

In all seriousness...certain formations of the Pistol would actually work with combo of Gus and Walton -or- Yearby...Typically, if we're ahead of the sticks, and the defense is off-balance there would be no problem implementing the pistol to get the BUS on the field more.

Thought Homer looked good prior to the fumble. Thought he looked tentative after, one run he could have easily bounced outside and instead put two hands on the ball put his head down and went nowhere.

Could be moving Gus to FB. But it could be starting with having Gus line up with Yearby/Walton in the backfield, then sliding Yearby/Walton into the slot to utilize their receiving ability (especially Walton).

I still think Gus is our best bet at RB.

While he can't play blocking FB, some passing game matchups could get us these results...

This would be perfect for him, if they actually bought that he was there to play FB. His biggest problem is that he runs smaller than his size, but he does well once he's past the DL. Putting him in space matched up on a LB or DB would seem to be one of the best ways to use him.

Whats going on in here? My Gus radar goin off..I'm literally about to fly to San Francisco to kick SFBay in the nuts for talking about my dude.. OUR RB coach just told us Gus is too good to keep off the field..And yes Gus can catch does no body remember the 30 yard wheel route he caught down the field on a jump ball against Virginia in 14'??

I was watching the game on a 4 inch screen so I really could not derive much from it. Im wondering what others thought of Travis Homer? I believe got some mop up time carries. Wondering what folks saw of him.

It's on YouTube now

I always thought he would be moved to fullback and used lie Jerome Bettis or Davenport

He doesn't have the temperament for fullback. He runs like he's 185, I don't see an effective blocker there.

I hate to be "that guy" but...

I've still never seen anything from Gus Edwards that would lead me to believe he can be a productive back against the top half of our schedule. Dude plays way smaller than his size and his burst is average at best. Even as a blocker, I dont ever remember being "wowed" by him...ever.

it just feels like a "this ain't checkers this is chess" lol

Not a fan of his, but I do recall being surprised at his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. There might be something there. I'd rather see Homer get the carries though. He's the future.

Yep. Was pleasantly surprised.

The use of Williams was big, IMO. Getting the TD pass to him will force teams to treat him as a real weapon, not just a blocker/power runner. And he blocked for the Yearby run from the same set. The film of those plays will require better teams to prepare. But you still got the TEs wrinkles that haven't been unveiled. Adds up to a lot of flexibility.

That run and shoot look from FSU with William Floyd and Warrick Dunn. I expect that look by App. St. or GT to prepare for FSU.

This is the second time you've mentioned run and shoot. The time before, you insinuated that Richt invented it at FSU, which is totally off (if that's what you meant). As someone who, if I remember correctly, shares some substantive, technical info, can you clarify your position on this?
