Observations after a week of practice

On paper Heatherman has more to work with here at Lb than Minnesota

I’ll wait and see how the spring portal goes. I hope we don’t have to hit the portal for an LB at some point these young guys have to step up. They’re getting NIL too

The defense was such a **** show last year it’s tough to even make any judgements about it and we can’t just cut everyone

"On paper" no doubt. Now tell us how you really feel, lol.

The writing was on the wall when their backup QB came in and marched down the field for 15 yards per play. Game 1.

What a ******* bull****ter you are.

First Lagway drive was a 3-and-out.

Third and final Lagway drive was an INT on the third play.

Only the second Lagway drive accomplished anything. Wow, a 58 yard drive where half the yardage came on the first two passes, only ONE of which exceeded 15 yards. Other than THOSE TWO completions, the only other completed pass on the drive went for FOUR yards. A 9-play drive for 58 yards...that's 6.5 yards per play.

So just stop lying about this mythical amazing Lagway performance against Miami. It never happened, and you're just here to lie about it.

Bobby looked lighter than some Safeties. Is he able to handle that position outside of passing downs?

Hence my argument you cannot rely on projected talent based on high school performance. Nearly all our LBs were Top 300 composite guys and they still aren't reliable enough. ABS -- Always Be Stacking.
Bobby made plays in a very small sample size last season, he showed A Lot of flashes. He’s been in a Major University strength and conditioning program for a year, and is going to continue to be. There’s a lengthy list of names that I can list of undersized college linebackers that had Very Good college careers and that’s what Miami needs to focus on. We have to pause on NFL projections and focus on winning the ACC

It's interesting that it's almost universally agreed that LB is the weakest position on the team when 6 months ago many proclaimed that it was one of the most talented. A lot changes in a few months.

I don't know about "most-talented". It was certainly better than our DB room, a few months ago. But things CAN change quickly.

We would have still beat their *** but Florida would have been wise to just start Lagway from the beginning

But it was a very gutless move by Billy and they got what they deserved in that one

First Team All ACC LBs: Louis 225, Carter 230, Buchanan 235
Second Team All ACC LBs: Kiko 230 (played heavier than that IMO), Wilson 225, Combs 230

If Bobby was 210 last season I'd be surprised. 215 I'd be shocked. So "can" he improve his twitch and speed while adding 15-20 pounds with exceptional S&C, all the while taking a massive step up from a bit player to a starter? Sure. But there's no way in **** I'd bet the season on it.

We're finally good there. But we do need DTs.
Well, Guidry was very fond of the DE/DB hybrid concept.

1st down Lofton blows up QB in backfield. 2nd down INT 40yds downfield covering WR1.

Why not both!!!

Never change CIS!!!

In all seriousness, our Canes need a Cam/Beck of the LB corps...

is that young lion on the roster today??

I don't know. When you look at the statistical production (and ignore the Samford game), Mertz was pretty solid. I really do think that the "Miraculous Florida Turnaround" was all about their defense, and not Lagway.

I still believe Lagway is talented, even VERY talented. But he is not some "perfect since his freshman year" kind of unicorn.

It clearly demonstrated how to gash our defense. Let a backup QB come in and throw an easy 15+ completion. And he ran the ball well against our defense.

Which every other team proceeded to do as well.

Its a small sample size but it's real and was repeated like 11 more times.

Try watching the games this year.

I don’t know either just my random opinion

The board gets pretty emotional when Lagways name comes up

We do have freaks at defense end, you make it sound like Bryant’s are only the D end. SMH Blount is a freak! Bain Is a freak! The freshman from California is a freak!
We really don't have any freaks at DE.

We have unproven freshmen/sophomores and tweeners(too small for DT, too big for DE) who've already peaked.

We seriously need monsters at DE. Like what Ohio State had this year. Guys who will play in the NFL.

There are very, very few rooms in America that Jason Taylor would trade ours for, straight up.

WTF are you talking about, you liar?

He threw ONE pass for 16 yards, and you are ******* building a statue for him. So you are suggesting a "demonstration manual" based on one play?

As for his "running well":

---Drive 1: DJ Lagway run for a loss of 4 yards to the FLA 25
---Drive 2: DJ Lagway run for 1 yd to the MIA 30
---Drive 2: DJ Lagway run for 16 yds to the MIA 5 for a 1ST down
---Drive 3: DJ Lagway run for 7 yds to the FLA 48 for a 1ST down

The only "gash" around here is the one between your legs.

As far as your other lie about "it was repeated like 11 more times", you are still full of ****.

1. Held FAMU to 9 points.
2. Shut out Ball State.
3. Held USF to 15 points.
4. Held F$U to 14 points.
5. Held Wake Forest to 14 points.

None of that means that the 2024 defense should be celebrated, but it is fairly simple to point out that you are a liar.

As for "watching the games", unlike you, I was actually in the stadium for 10 of them. So try telling your lies to someone else.

amen
the craziest excuse is how previous recruits are scaring off potential future recruits
if mario truly believes that excuse we will never be elite
