Nussmeier to LSU

Not too worried about QB the dominoes are falling right now. Plus they’ll be flip opportunities during the season. I do think Miami messed up not going after Salter, could’ve started recruiting the rest of the class. I believe he came down here in January for a 7 on 7 and put on a show

"Garrett Nussmeier" just doesn't strike me as a good QB name. I'm trying to think of successful QBs that didn't have great QB names, can't think of any. Miller "the Killer" Moss sounds like a name you'd hear getting invited to the Heisman presentation. Preston Stone is a good QB name too.

Nussmeier has too many ties to LSU. He's from La originally. Has family there. spends alot of time there. His dad worked with the new OC.

Very interested to see what Ivins has heard. He says he has more info on the QB board

I don't see Davis or Milroe flipping either..
I think we'll offer Chayden Peery out of Cali, he's being recruited by Louisville & Boise St, but he was mentioned as a QB we might offer a few weeks ago.

I still think we missed the boat early on in the year with the TX QB's.

LSU, Va Tech, Tennessee. Pitt, Miss St, UVA, Iowa St, Mich St, Memphis & Illinois are all going to have TX QB's committed to them this class.

We dragged our feet & didn't dish out enough offers aggressively earlier in the year before the Covid shutdown. We should've been handing out offers left & right back in Jan/Feb & getting kids down for early visits.

QB recruiting ain't like every other position, QB's tend to wrap up their recruitment by the Summertime. Some kids will decommit later in the year so we could be waiting on that wave, but for the most part, you gotta work on your QB's early in the year.

Jon f*cking Richt got Jarren Williams to flip a month before the ESP. Not concerned.

This was best. Everyone waiting to see who LSU was going to get. Dominoes may start falling and hopefully one of the are for the good guys.

yes, IDK that kid but I agree about the Texas offers. It's another reason we can't keep having so much staff turnover on offense. There's no time to build relationships. I have to assume there's something about Salter that Lashlee just doesn't like.

Lashlee's put out a few offers in 2022 and I think a 2023 kid, too.

Years ago there was a pro QB named Milton Plum. I think he started for the Browns, but don't feel like looking it up. He was the butt of some comedian's jokes....I think the comic appeared on Ed Sullivan many times and always had the same joke. (Many of you might have to googlee "Ed Sullivan." He was the butt of many jokes himself.)

Other names.....Eagle Day. Played for the Redskins I think.

Although not QBs, we probably lead CFB in players with odd names...J.C. Penny, Golden Ruel, Barry *****.

We need to find an Italian QB...they are a tradition at UM: Mario Bonifiglio, Sam Scarnecchia, Fran Curci, Fred Bertani, Geoff Torretta,
Vinny Testaverde....

We have no record with QBs of German heritage. We should just move on from Nussmeier.

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon three-star quarterback Chayden Peery is a name that InsideTheU’s Andrew Ivins highlighted last month as one that could potentially come into play as Miami expands their board. Peery threw for 3,401 yards with 24 touchdowns and just one interception, while leading his Sierra Canyon team to a 14-2 record.

Peery has picked up offers from Boise State, NC State, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Georgia Tech and, most recently, Michigan State. Miami wide receivers coach Rob Likens offered Peery while he was still the offensive coordinator at Arizona State as well.

Wow,,,, just saw this on the OU board. Long write up on their QB recruiting of Caleb Williams. Williams just announced a final 3 of LSU, OU and Maryland today. Hours later, Nussmeier went public with his commitment to LSU.

"Ironically, one of the first calls Nussmeier made was to none other than Caleb Williams, Caleb's father, Carl. Carl said they spoke about the potential of two QB's, but Carl also added, "Caleb doesn't care about competition. He doesn't care about Nussmeier at LSU, and he doesn't care about Rattler likely being the returning starter at OU if he chose there. Just not something he worries about," Carl noted. "He loves to compete, and that is what he will do when he gets to the school he eventually chooses."

LSU heavily recruiting Miller Moss too. They want 2 Qbs if possible but don't have to now that Nussmeier is committed.

Is Miami pretty much all-in on a dual threat QB now or are they looking at pocket passers? #3 Pocket Passer (just behind Jake Garcia) Jake Rubley is committed to K State. I have to think Miami would be able to lure a kid from K State.

Yeah, I think Perry is a Pro Style Bro QB as well. I prefer a DT but I recall Lashlee saying he can make either work in his offense.

I just don’t see Moss going to the sec. Not saying he will come here. But I think he stays in Cali or goes to a major market or something closer to it than an sec school. Just my opinion.

I’m guessing Milroe from Texas? He is tight with King and his TX commit likely doesn’t hold up.
Milroe is a long shot. There’s no way UT isn’t dropping bags to make him stay. I kind of saw all of this coming though. I’ve personally thought for months we should be going after Dematrius Davis.

Yea, Ivins did mention this kid weeks ago. Not a big fan of bigger QB’s that don’t have big arms though. Really hard to improve from a strength point.
