As far as further portal goes (And I'm not counting QB because if Garcia walks I think we will replace him with the best walk-on and keep 4 on scholly either way)
I think this is the MIMIMUM ADDITIONAL WE WILL LOSE TO PORTAL:

OL (The R-Rod, Seymour, Washington, Mclaughlin, **** maybe even Clark or Sap contingent...Washington being most likely to be pushed out)
OL
DE (I don't see all of Davis, Ishmael, Williams all on the roster next year...Davis being most likely to be pushed out)

Then I think we lose 2-5 more of this group.
WR (Redding, Horton?)
OL #3
OL #4
TE
DE #2
LB (Could see us only having one Smith after spring I know K.Smith was rumored a few weeks back)
CB
S (Balom)

So definitely 5, maybe as much as 8+ further portal, not including QB position.

Do these numbers include the punter, kicker, and LS on scholarship? I also believe Balom, Ragone, and Keontra are still on scholarship. If I'm not mistaken, the actual number as of today is 85. 84 if you're not counting Cormani. I agree there is an excess on the OL and LB, allowing Mario to bring in at least another five players. WR, DT, and S have the most pressing needs.

I think we need 1 DT and it absolutely has to be a 1-tech. Our guys are all smaller DTs. We just need that Jackson replacement

I think Tvd shines with new ol and no Mallory. TE unit is much better off now then beginning of season.

I’m fine if we take no other wr. Need a safety more imo

I’m just not seeing WR transfers lining up to play in this offense. They’re going to have to choose between JUCO/FCS guys and career jags who have been cast off from their previous teams. Everyone knows that it’s career suicide. It’s going to be that way for quarterbacks too if we stay status quo.

one note here. Ishmael might stay here and graduate and do nothing at all. His dad is a strength coach.

Yeah, part of the thread’s point was to emphasize just how quickly and completely this has been done. I’ve been a vocal Mario critic in terms of the OC hire and I’m not a fan of what we saw with game strategy, but you have to be a hater to not give him abundant credit for this aspect of the program’s turnaround. It’s aggressive, thoughtful, and thorough. I wish we could complement that with his addition of a coordinator who is aligned to those same three...
