X had had nowhere near Bain talent and in my book X is miles better then Bain in his play.

I wanted everyone everyone to train and be X but they chose mediocrity and it showed period.

Now a second chance has arrived for everyone, we will see who X’s out to elite play.

I don't need Guidry to figure it out. He can have their signs for all I care. If the players can't understand and react to what is happening, it doesn't matter what Guidry knows.

We lack field presence in a huge way , reactive to game flow is terrible.

Coaches can’t teach this , we call a D play with no presence to adjust.

I watch a lot of South Carolina, and you can see the leadership on the defensive side of the ball. Their guys understand what is happening when the offense lines up.

X perfect example, his studying of this game is elite he criticizes himself when needed.

X’s field presence is NFL caliber, he wasn’t born with any of it he X constantly evolves his game even as play unfolds X is that good.

It should be contagious but the road X travels is not for milk and cookies players, it’s a lonely road of the elite.

Oregon is very beatable & i'd be surprised if they won it all; Gabriel throws a lot of short passes that stress the defense and he can escape the pocket, but he isn't the best player in college football. That said, I respect his game and their coaching for making the most of what they have.

We can beat them and anyone else if Cam is flawless and gets points on every possession (3 or 6), but a defense-driven ball-control competition will expose our lack of discipline & poor communication.

Hopefully it all comes together for players and coaches down the stretch.
 
Anyone who didn't think 2 games into the ACC schedule that EVERY game would be in question due to the state of the defense was kidding themselves. To suddenly make the statement that NOW we should be worried about winning the last 2 games of the season is ridiculous.

Yes, coaching on defense deserves plenty of blame. However, there are plenty of Jimmy's and Joe's who would not start for a legitimate defense. In particular, perhaps the slowest LB unit the Canes have had since the late '70's.

The fact the Canes are still in play for the playoff and a chance at the natty is refreshing after the past 20 years of mediocrity. My suggestion would be to enjoy it while acknowledging the fact massive changes need to be made on the defensive side of the ball in the offseason.

Seriously, did anyone in August think the Canes would be 9-1 at this point in the season?

Bain’s 2024 season is not a good look for Mario. He desperately needs this kid to be a hit in draft in 2026. He has to show year over year proof of development in the defensive trenches at Miami. You can’t have a kid put numbers like that his freshman year and then follow it up with what has been happening so far. I wonder if Bain still has a nagging injury?
 
Everyone is beatable this season. Our coaches need to simplify the defense and play a more conservative approach. Stop putting the safeties and Kiko in position to make one on one plays in space. Stop stunting and start setting the edge. Last year Kiko was a baller because everything was downhill for him. Now they have him playing man and zone coverage in space and he's getting exposed. We have an offense that can put up 30-40 almost every single week. We just need a defense that can be respectable on the field. If we get that, anything is possible.

Don't be silly. I've been told that it's all on the players and has nothing to do with our top notch defensive coordinator. Confused players, missed alignments, taking bad angles, missed tackles, failing to set the edge, and stunting ourselves out of position is all on the players. Coaches have nothing to do with it. They get paid millions to emphasize physical toughness and to remind players to " just be better."

Bain is a victim of the players around him. I think he has played well and been dominant at times.

We have also been lead to believe that the entire team now gets it and is like Bain and X because all the cancers have been expelled.
 
Bain has played in five games this season and he has sacks in three of them

He’s coming off an injury the basically cost him five games

Cuse is built to give this defense a hard time. That game has me nervous. Should be able to out score them but I’m nervous.
