Notre Dame QB Phil Jurkovec

Precisely, the effort he showed this year was disgusting. I defend who needs to be defended from unecessary hate or illogical thinking about something taking place. If it’s warranted then I might jump in on it. I’m not sure if you are aware but the hate Williams get on social media is unreal and classless

Jarren's effort was pretty disgusting this year, too. After the VT game, he looked like a guy who was just going through the motions (assuming he actually showed up to practice). That's not "illogical thinking," that's what happened.

Garvin's effort was ****-poor, though. He under-performed big-time this season. That's fair criticism. But you know QB is a different animal, and the expectation for how QBs should work and conduct themselves will always be greater than a DE. It just goes with the territory. And compared to the expectation, Jarren came up woefully short.

IDK, Williams won us that Pitt game when he did come back in, gave us the largest margin of win vs FSU since the early 2000s and set records vs Louisville. Something obviously happened after that

Part of what Jarren and others do at Miami going through motions in bowl practice like Jarren talked about, is the culture that still needs drastically overhauled once a new HC/AD comes in hopefully next year.

Suitcase is a one-trick pony. His throws go to the middle of the field. When guys get wide open due to terrible coverage (i.e. Wiggins vs. F$U and Loserville), Suitcase looks great. When the pocket breaks down (per usual) and our receivers don't get separation (per usual), he panics, eats sacks, and throws stupid balls into the middle of the field trying to force the issue (FiU and LA Tech). Panic and falling back on crutches is the hallmark of an unprepared, nervous QB who doesn't put in the requisite study to be good. Suitcase isn't doing his job.

He was motivated against Pitt to get his job back, and did some good on that game-winning drive (especially the 1st down he got on the scramble). But even then, that drive was mostly the KJ Osborn show, and the TD was for sure.
I think F$U is one of those games where he was motivated because of the opponent. If you come to UM and can't get up to play F$U, you really shouldn't be here.
He definitely showed up for UL, though. Probably one of his best games.

But either way, it's hard to look at this season without coming to the conclusion that at some point this season, Jarren very clearly had checked himself out mentally.

His HS numbers were outrageous! Not sure what happened at ND, they have been waiting for him to take the reigns, but can't seem to get Book out of there. He would would worth a look, especially in Lashlee's system.

Disappointing, I’m done man lol

Do you promise to be done? Or will I have to see you bring this up again in another thread.

Every person who has visited this board knows

- your opinion on Williams wanting to Transfer
- your belief in Rumphs recruiting
- Garvins lack of Effort this past season
- how you like your steak

You bring a lot to the board but I promise and you’ve made your point. There’s no need to make them on those subjects again.

You moved from caping for Rumph to caping for Jarren lol. The Brock spin cycle doesn't in. Jarren Williams literally quit on his team multiple times in the middle of different seasons. It's more than immaturity man. QB is the most important position in football and we don't have a guy who you can rely on for leadership or even to be there. Being talented ain't worth **** is people can't depend on you.
Lol thank you i hope @brock that answers it for me. Exactly every time things go sour for JW he’s pouting like a child and it’s just time to move on from him imo.

You aren't wrong that there is a culture problem. And I am generally of the belief that attitude reflects leadership (so this all mostly falls on the HC and coaching staff). But players need to be accountable, too. Especially at QB.

A starting QB should be a positive influencer when it comes to leadership and culture on a football team, not a source of consternation and example of poor effort. Real QBs don't skip practices. Real QBs don't candidly admit they were just going through the motions instead of actually preparing to play the games. Real QBs lead from the front.

Phil Jurkovec's high school highlights are below. He had a 68% completion percentage in high school. He apparently had confidence issues early on according to an article on him at ND, but he also is alleged to have gotten past that. At ND this past season, he was 12-15 (80%) for 222 yards for 2 TDs and no INTs playing behind Ian Brook.

Especially with a cast with horrible football IQ and discipline. Penos had to simplify his offense from all those fancy motions and shifts designed to give us an advantage to a basic Richt 5 play offense. Add turnstyle LT & RT's all year and it looks like the QB's were only a part of the problem.
No question it was a group effort in futility last season but ... a really good QB can overcome many deficiencies. Wasn't as if Kelly and Kosar played behind great OLs in their day. They were just too game savvy and accurate not to still win!

Perry was just as immature if not more as Williams was In his REDSHIRT FRESHMAN YEAR where he got playing time yet this year showed dramatic growth off the field and had no issues. Why can’t the same thing happen with Williams in his redshirt sophomore year?
Perry had a different type of immaturity. He behaved like a WR instead of a QB which is supposed to be the ceo is the team.
I don’t think Perry threatened to transfer or leave the team like Williams or Tate.
