But pretty interesting

"While Miami is a long way of from having a championship roster, its improvement in 2013-2014 compared to 2011-2012 is very impressive. Many believe Miami reached for players in the class of 2012 who were not Miami quality, simply to have a full roster in case the NCAA came down hard. With NCAA sanctions being extremely light, Miami's recruiting is on the way back up. In the 2011-2012 classes, Miami signed 40 players who were not blue-chips. In 2013-2014? Just 28."

Duke HAD ZERO....ZERO and won the coastal with ease......coaching is lacking on both game day/recruiting

We also beat some teams with a comparable number of blue-chip recruits over the past couple of years and certainly more than we were able to retain as upperclassman. Does that mean their coaches are more terrible than ours?

Duke has a great coach, better x and I coach, better gameday coach than AL, but with the talent Al is bringing in we can out talent their coaching IMO.

Also Duke beat Texas A&M for majority of the game, if it wasn't for one player Texas A&M gets demolished in that game.

Also in out game with Duke we had no Duke, Coley played 1 quarter, and no Dorsett.

We needed offensive weapons for a high scoring game.

Everyone loves to use the Duke example. How did Texas A&M recruit over the last couple years? Is it safe to say that they have superior talent than Duke at every single position? Not to mention they also have the best overall player in the nation over the past 2 years. Was Sumlin also regarded as one of the best coaches in all of college football this year?

This theory is all fine and dandy, but what happens when we start playing teams like FSU or Clemson? Teams with elite talent and coaching staffs that bring something to the table on Saturdays.

I don't know about you, but the I don't want the measuring stick of this program as "did we beat Duke or not." I want National Championships. We won't attain that with this staff.

what teams with better talent did we beat...dont say the gators...they have a bad Qb no Rbs no Wrs and put 500 yards on us...yes their coaching was worse than ours..

KSU killed is no Blue Chips Louisville killed us few blue chips...VT, Duke, WAKE TOOK IT US TO 4 QTRS, unc TO 4 QTRS......I know we suck and talent is now coming in that will change a few things...but how do we go week in week out 4 qtrs with teams with lil to no talent....coaching

Anyone else find it odd that "fans' get angry when someone says something good about their team?

Beyond the coaching issues - as far as recruiting is concerned I think we are heading in the right direction we are not that far off the pace...BUT, and there's always a but. If the team doesn't do significantly better this year, recruiting will become more difficult because recruits who have designs on an NFL career want to play in a successful environment and get a lot of good exposure. They want those announcers declaring that "he will be playing on Sundays".

Right now we have too many 2 & 3 *'s, with a handful of 4*'s and one 1*. If we don't significantly improve recruits will toy with us but choose to go elsewhere. The only other way to rectify this is to offer "play now" opportunities to those we can't lose. The real 5* players aren't afraid to compete for positions but the U has, IMO developed a seniority favoritism, as well as a brown-nose favoritism reputation, It's nice to emphasize character and all that but maybe we need players that are characters and have less character. If you want to play with the big boys you earn it on game day not in practice - wish it weren't so but it is. If the coach wants to be respected win or get a job as a loading dock foreman - where nobody cares.

good post.....I think Golden still thinks this is Temple and 2 3 stars can be developed in 4 and 5 stars on a whim....Denzel has proved this to a point..

Great player works hard but is not even sniffing the field in the 80s or 90s teams no less 2000-2004......he is getting better but he is still a 3 star guy after 3 solid years..hits like a truck but chases plays, never takes over a game. then look at Chick 4 star guy who well is playing like a 3 star guy after 3 years...could it be a supporting staff....ABSOLUTELY.....this year talent is improved at every position so if we get trucked by the Bottom feeders this year its easy to figure out

This is total BS re Denzel. If we had a whole roster full of guys with his talent and attitude, we would be in great shape.

read the post........he plays solid but he needs a supporting cast to be GREAT or ELITE....not his fault he has Olineman in his face every play or chasing WR down the field...trust me I AM GLAD he is back but denzel is no better than he was as a frosh....games and numbers prove this..

To be fair, DP's tackles went from 69 in 2011 to 108 in 2013

Bud Elliot is a total FSU nutswinger but he's been on point about his recruiting knowledge...Miami reaches for way too many boarder line players
