YES!

JJ and Butch knew and loved Texas HS football. Maybe hire of Patke shows resolve to re-enter Texas recruiting. Right now we're looking for back-up plans all around the country (incl. NYC) but no action in Texas.

I used to hear from JJ's staff that they liked Texas kids because they came in already well-schooled from good HS coaching.

We had at least one, maybe several, kids from Duncanville. I don't remember any from North Shore, but we might have had some.

Historically, it's my understanding that Houston area was richer than Dallas area, notwithstanding Dallas Carter's success and I don't know how long that ran. Of course we got the best player from the late '80's Carter glory years (Jesse Armstead). I haven't followed it so I don't know what they've been like more recently.

Right now, the only two kids I know of whom we have recruited recently are the two tight ends (Polendey and the one whom we lost to TAMU) and, of course, that DT we tried to recruit last year.

Since JJ came in we really recruited a lot of Texans, including some of the state's elite.

We need to recruit Texas again and maybe try to compete for some top players from Louisiana.
Daj’Leon Farr, the tight end from the mid 2000s, went to North Shore I believe. That’s about it as far as I know.

Is Duncanville the same as Katy? I see Katy on the red uniforms. I remember at least one or more Duncanville kids at UM--don't remember it being Katy.
Katy is in both pictures, they played twice this season. Duncanville is red and blue.

Football is religion in Texas. Yes, this is a HS football stadium.

Back in the late 60’s my Pop and I were driving though an endless expanse of TX to visit my sister and her army husband. It was night as we got close to their house and we passed a football stadium. Looked like about 50,000 in the stands. We got to the house and I asked my brother in law what college played in this bumf@@@ town. He said it was the local high school. Football is god in TX, not just a religion.

Nope! Almost 50k watched in person, the quality of the football is top-notch. No concern at all brother.

Way back in the day, we had high school games in the OB that drew huge crowds. Less schools, no Dolphins and Canes were Sun Tan U.
