here are some quotes from a humorous thread on the scout board discussing expectations and the preseason hype fsu is getting...

"Personally I thought FSU was top 5 material at the beginning of last year. Then the injuries started to mount, then the refs cheated, these are not tin foil hat excuses, we've got video evidence."

They do have reason to be excited...Jimbo will corch them to yet another 4 loss national championship this year.

Hilarious. Only two statements can be taken semi-serious:
" The freshmen all look the part and it seems as though all have GOOD weight, with the few obvious exceptions."
FSU's freshmen are HUGE. Mario Edwards is going to cause us problems in the coming years, I already know.

"I do believe FSU is getting closer to bama type depth."
This is also true. 4 or 5 of their DEs, 3 DTs , and maybe their secondary can start on any team in the country. Kehoe better get his s#!+ together.

But they still can't run the ball to save their lives....
On paper FSU's defense will be nasty for a number of years. Offensively, no one there gives me cause for real concern.
 
They must have some serious Bama envy up there. My boss is a Nole and he constantly talks about how Jimbo is trying to be like Bama with his recruiting. I mean, I get it, they're on top and everyone imitates the best, but you don't just come out and slurp them as a program. I guess Jimbo is like the itsy bitsy spider, climbing up Sabans nuts. But everytime Saban wins, some **** drizzles down and makes Jimbo slip a little further down the sack.

I just hope they weren't reading our boards during the Shan-coker era. Our delusions were something to behold.

LOL remember when FSU had Kendall Pope and those 2 other linebackers, I think the good Boulware's little brother and somebody else?

They claimed they were miles better than the Miami LB crew, which at the time consisted of Vilma, DJ Williams, and McIntosh/Weaver.

You forget all those recruiting titles they won. Those count right? If you're a Nole that's what it's all about. I bet they frame the Rivals recruiting class final rankings.
 
it is their depth that concerns me. their last 3 classes they have 42 4&5 Star's and 30 of those are ESPN Top 150 players. I would guess only Bama is higher (they have 47 & 33). If they had the eye for talent and development of Saban it would be a real problem.

but as you know some people like Coker have pulled in multiple monster classes and not developed any of the talent.

Certainly there is a pattern of at least conference domination by teams like USC, OSU, UT, BAMA, UF when they have had good coaches AND stayed consisitently in the top 5 of the recruiting classes year after year. Hopefully Jimbo is a corch.
 
They've been signing classes like that for a long time. Alot of those kids end up out of school for academic reasons or run ins with the law. The Noles don't even worry about character when they recruit.
 
1. They have Jimbo who every year is proving it was Saban and Miles who led those teams
2. They will never develop a running game...and their most promising pure RB just tore his balls up so bad he will miss the season.
3. EJ Manuel is a slighly better Xavier Lee altho they'll tell you he's done so much more than Lee
4. They have ONE WR worth a ****
5. They are forever cursed in the kicking game
6. Clemson
7. They always lose a WTF game (Wake, UVA, USF, NCST, etc.....)
8. No more Randy Shannon lettng them cherry pick South Florida (Joyner, Rhodes, Green, O'Leary, Hart, Freeman.........this was all in ONE recruiting class and FSU has yet to land ONE south Florida recruit in the past 2 seasons.



And so on
