A lot of the big programs were still hesitant to go heavy in the portal. That’s how guys like Norvell and Manny who can’t actually recruit managed to get some great players through the portal early.

They didn’t have to go against the best and then the Manny white knight brigade can say “see he can recruit” without giving any context as to why

I just read that womans bio. I wouldnt be shocked if she donated something at some point. But it wont be anything wild or consistent.

She is giving to places that def dont align with FSU Football.

Yeah. Nobody said he could recruit. He did a good job of grabbing portal guys but his recruiting was what eventually ran him out. The defense had so little talent in 2020/21.

they werent reluctant at all.

Norvell and to a lesser extent Manny...knew they screwed in hs recruiting or werent getting guys so there focus was toward the portal BEFORE other schools would be. Guys were finalizing high school classes while they were backdooring portal kids already.

Norvell was THE FIRST COACH to contact Verse in the portal PERIOD. Thats how he got em. And thats because in watching syracuse film for prep they noticed he was eating up syracuse ot's throughout the game.

Kiffin does good portal work as well because he knows in state isnt enough talent to supplement what he wants to do and he doesnt want full on battles for top tier sec kids in the sec west so he would get what he can in hs recruiting and full fledge guys in the portal.

The "portal" or transferring isnt new its alway sbeen there...whats new is guys dont have to sit out and it has a name, we portald Brock Berlin from our rivals UF in the 2000s. The ig programs always used transfers ..they just didnt need the amount they do now because THEIR guys werent portaling out as much

Nah, there wasn’t nearly the amount of competition for portal guys five years ago. Why do you think Norvell can’t get anyone from the portal anymore? He has competition. That and NIL. Everyone is chasing transfers now so just tampering with a kid who’s not in the portal yet isn’t enough anymore. You gotta be ready to offer the world to these high end portal kids . That’s why we got Carson Beck and they got the kid that lost his starting job at Boston College.
