It’s a dumpster fire. I look at our trenches and ****, they’re gonna be good next year and elite by year 3. Meanwhile, they haven’t developed anyone on that team.

#1 - is a lie. At both Memphis and F$U, Prison Mike Norvell has only "developed" one transfer player into a first round draft choice, and that was Jermaine Johnson. In the future, it may happen again, but at this time, it has only happened once.

#2 - who cares?

#3 - pretty much a restatement of #2.

#4 - guy mentions "legit NFL targetS", plural, mentions ONE. A tight end, Kyle Morlock.

#5 - guy mentions "deep WR room", proceeds to talk about HS recruit rankings and "experience playing in big games".

Hykeem Williams - 4 total receptions in 2023 (half came in one game against Duke)
Destyn Hill - 6 total receptions in 2023 (half came in one game against Syracuse)
Jakhi Douglas - 12 total receptions in 2023 (half came in one game against Pitt)
Vandrevius Jacobs - 3 total receptions in 2023 (two of the three came in two games against Southern Miss and North Alabama)
Kentron Poitier - 2 total receptions in 2023 (one each against North Alabama and Wake)
Darion Williamson- 7 total receptions in 2023 (four of the seven came in two games against Southern Miss and Syracuse)

#6 - guy jizzes over Deuce Spann, who had ONE receiption last year. Outside of the tight end, Kyle Morlock, the 7 receivers in this "deep room" accounted for 35 catches last year. That's 5 per WR. And half of those receptions came against terrible teams like Southern Miss, North Alabama, Duke, Syracuse, Pitt, and Wake.

#7 - returns entire OL. Same OL that got two QBs injured and who blocked for F$U's 65th-ranked running game.

#8 - proven success...sure...since opening 4-3 in 2022, F$U won the last 6 games of 2022 and have won 13 in a row in 2023. Of course, up until that 19-game winning streak, Prison Mike Norvel was 12-16. Sure. "Proven success"...for the last 14 months...before that, it was "proven mediocrity" of going 12-16.

#1 is the biggest lie Nole folks like to spread. Who exactly has Norvell/FSU developed? Was Rodemaker developed when he went 9-20 108 yds against Florida? Was Glenn developed when he threw for, no joke, 55 yards against Louisville? Look at FSU’s best players..all from the portal.

FSU has around 13 wide receivers on their roster. It’s a mountain to climb. It’s easier said than done with a somewhat bloated position group. Same for a defensive lineman going to 2023 A&M, or a blue chip running back going to 2008 USC (they had 10 highly rated HBs on their roster)

OK, fair argument for September, but what about this bowl depth chart?

First, they list THIRTEEN starters on offense, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, and 2 TEs. Clearly, they can't put them all on the field at the same time. So the only time you'll see three WRs (and Hykeem Williams is a second-stringer) will be when you only have 1 RB and 1 TE.

Second, go back to that delusional post by that F$U fan earlier, when he rhapsodized about how deep the F$U WR corps is, and how he talked about 5-Star Hykeem Williams. Ummmm, okay.

So you've got Kentron Poitier as a starter. TWO receptions in 2023. Oh, but he's a junior, so maybe this is Manny/Randy type seniority system stuff. He must be the seasoned vet, as he had FOURTEEN receptions in 2022. And then FOUR in 2021. And another FOUR in 2020.

You've got Darion Williamson as a starter. SEVEN receiptions in 2023. Also a junior. He's also a seasoned vet. EIGHT receptions in 2022. ELEVEN in 2021. And TWO in 2020.

But wait, you've got Destyn Hill also starting as a freshman. SIX receptions in 2023.

So one must wonder how 5-Star Hykeem Williams can't crack that murderer's row of bowl game starters, even though he himself only has FOUR receptions. Backup Deuce Spann has ONE reception in 2023, and the third backup Vandrevius Jacobs has THREE receptions in 2023.

Hykeem's second-string role can't all be blamed on production, or the lack thereof. You have six wide receiver virgins vying for three spots.

Again, I'm not trying to say the lack of stats makes all of these guys "bad" or anything. I'm simply saying, if Hykeem is so talented, why is it so hard to beat these guys out who barely play and are not entrenched starters?

Great response! It's a good question. I don't follow the day to day of the Seminoles, but a quick search seems to indicate that he lacked the requisite conditioning when he arrived as an early enrollee that likely sent him to the bottom of the depth chart.

"When he first got here, he couldn’t even do conditioning," FSU quarterback Jordan Travis said with a laugh of Williams after Wednesday's practice.

“He's had to go through it,” Norvell said. “One of the benefits. He got here in January, whether it's Tour Duty, spring practice, he learned quickly the shape that's necessary, some of the commitments and sacrifices of what it takes.”
"Recruiting and everything is so accelerated now where everybody looks at these young guys so early, man. But I mean, they’ve got to be able to go through it a little bit," offensive coordinator Alex Atkins said.

"I think as he’s maintained his conditioning, his confidence, his understanding of the offense, he's really, really accelerating where now he can showcase his ability.”


As for Destyn, he's had a two year layoff. It's possible that a similar dynamic was in play with conditioning, even though he said that he kept in shape. He also battled a foot injury during the season.
