Fantastic pass protection vs ND. Not one sack IIRC and only a couple QB hurries.

They did a **** of a job, ND couldnt get ANY pressure with 4. Even some of the hurries was Stephen just scrambling out of the pocket when there was no need to. Cant really say anything about run blocking because we really didnt do enough of it to even establish a run game.

They have to bring it every week though, UNC still has Butch Davis studs, they have some really good dlineman who get pressure. Really want to see how our guys perform against some speed rushers in the next 2 weeks

Run blocking is not very good

This.

Este. We cannot pound the ball that well up the middle at all.

TRUE. But look at the nature of our OLine. They are huge guys off the bus, but none of them have that mean streak it takes to be that downhill blocker. Honestly I feel the same way about our D. A bunch of really athletic guys who just lack intensity. EJ, DP, and Bush have it, Shayon and Chick too, but the rest are just going through the motions. You can't put that kinda fire in someone. Either they have it or they don't. The great ones have it.

I think we'd be good at running the ball if we actually committed to it. Instead we just run it once every 5 plays and it works about half the time.

Didn't see the game but how many times did we run from the shotgun? This is my biggest problem with Fisch. I don't mind it a couple times to keep em honest, but running out of the gun too much annoys me. Especially when they did the Raising Canes featuring Hagens. Talkin bout he's the heart and soul of the team and we never use him.

Many of us predicted this, however. ND is stout against run. I knew the struggle we would have against the run, but I knew we could pass the ball on these guys. Seantrel/Bunche brought their A game on Tuitt - dude hardly sniffed Morris. Kudos to those 2 guys. But, the fact that we did not run well against ND was not a surrpise.

No one runs on Notre Dame this year. Michigan and Michigan State, both with better power run games than ours, were also stifled by the middle of that D.

I agree 100% with this post. The ND line did not get a lot of pressure on Morris. It just felt that if our receivers came up with those catches early on we would have scored some points on ND. We consistently had open receivers down field, in some cases Morris did not see them, but due to excellent pass blocking the passing game was there most of the night. I still cannot believe we did not actually score a touchdown on them...

Bottom line - the Oline played well enough to win.

Problem is, they are the ONLY unit I can say that about. Inevitable result of that = we lost big.

Bingo.

Well, it is hard to commit to the run when you have a tendency to spot the other team several touchdowns before making your first score, or allowing the other team to go on a scoring binge mid-game before making a comeback.
