NFL Draft Profile: DT Kendrick Norton

View as article
When somebody provides such misinformation about his family lineage then it totally discredits anything else he writes about his draft evaluation.

Where did they get this crazy stuff? I was reading it with my jaw hanging down...how did I not know this about his family? Surely I would have heard if he was related to the heavyweight boxer and his son the former UCLA and Cowboy LB.

The one thing I heard about a UM player that I was never able to verify was the story that former UM LB Darryl Sharpton was the nephew of Al Sharpton. I believe Darryl's father was an accountant and maybe a Republican. Doesn't sound like a relative of Al Sharpton. Does anybody know?
Why the obsession of Canes players lineage. Who cares. We should not recruit football players because his grandfather was a great tennis player, boxer, bowler or what ever. It’s all about the skill level of the particular kid we are recruiting. Seems to me posters desperate to post crap to get attention.

Most on this board said this would happen. This is not a surprise. These guys didn’t want to listen to the advice of people that knew best - those that didn’t have an agenda.

Listened to people at Pete’s Company and losing lots of money

MEMO: Don't listen to a ****ant thinking he is an agent.

What 'lil Petee should offer for this debacle:

Should have listened to Richt and the advisory board. Norton and RJ will most likely go undrafted like many on here predicted.
You’re wrong more than any other poster I’ve ever seen. I’ll give you credit because you keep showing up tho.

would of been the same thing if they came out next year

Well, at least then you have a college degree to fall back on. Norton was never going to be a 1st round pick. But he could've worked his way into a 3rd/4th round pick next year which is a significant amount of money compared to what he's going to get as a UFA.

Its possible but not guaranteed, he and RJ figured they were at there highest point with the season we had. He can always get the degree anytime am i right or?

So what exactly is the reason for leaving then? I don't see the point in leaving early to go the NFL and you don't get drafted and don't play a down in the NFL. Also, the idea that their draft stock wouldn't have improved is also not realistic either. Plenty of linemen stay their respective senior years and improve. Too many people focus on the short term rather then the long term.

They *could* go back and get their degrees. But Yearby ran into an undisclosed situation where he can't go back. So again, this was beyond dumb of both of them to leave. At least RJ got drafted and will get some money. But he also could've benefitted by getting stronger and putting up more film.

There is a reason why you don't see any 3rd year DTs making $$ in the draft. It's just common freaking sense but our players and even fans like you can't see it.

Risk vs. Reward

They are grown men and they knew the risks. Same for the ones that make the same choice next year. Time to move on as we obviously cant "bully" kids into staying.

Developing an offense that gets kids to start thinking about a championship the following year is the only legit solution to this.

Seems to me that you’re a giant piece of excrement smearing yourself all over the board as usual.

Pretty awful decision-making. They didn't figure that. They both seemingly bought into what they were being told. You think Kendrick Norton believed he was max'd out and leaving to be a non-Top 200 player or even an UDFA? Take a look at the history of 1Ts coming out before their 4th (or even 5th!) season. I'm surprised people are actually supporting their [horrendously poor] calculation.

WHen you have kids you will see that these kids hit the lottery going to school for free. Even if you play 6 years in the pros you still need a job for 40 more years. THESe guys going to be truck drivers or something? Get that degree, build yourself up. There is no redshirting in the NFL. Got to start producing right away or someone else will.

It is not about bullying people to stay in school. Many of us understand what they have to gain by staying 300 more days. Now if these kids want to comeback to school it will cost them $50,000 per year.

People are trying desperately to be the "above the fray, support the kids regardless" superfan, only answer. It's their lives to live, and obviously people are mad they left for selfish reasons (i.e. wanting them on the team next year) but anyone with a shred of objectivity could tell you leaving early for both, especially Kendrick made 0 sense. They got suckered by some scum agents, and made a horrible decision. Rinse and repeat here.

I don't want him. Dude didn't seem in shape. He was constantly tired and subbed out of the game for Moten. Thats a problem to me. He has the talent and athleticism but if he is tired ever other play then he is no different then a guy the Dolphins currently have in Jordan Phillips.
