I'm sick of the excuses. I'm sick of the arrogance. I'm sick of the stubborness.
You know who was stubborn? Don Shula. You know who learned to change with his players in spite of being stubborn? Don Shula. Don Shula's teams in Miami were run first, and I mean run like 75% of the time from 1970-1982. Then he got Dan Marino. He burned his playbook, the playbook he'd been using for 13 years in Miami (and in Baltimore before that) and got a whole new offensive scheme because of one player. That's what good coaches do. They adapt. They don't try and force players to adapt to their scheme if they're clearly not the right players for it, and it's clearly not working.
That's why Don Shula is a legend and Al Golden is fat.
