Did you ever consider what our D had to work with due to Randy's ineptitude and the threat of sanctions Our second best defensiveness lineman was Renfro a man who did not make the two deep at the powerhouse University of Maryland Our strong safety Highsmith runs a 4.8 and lacks instincts in part because he was forced to play quarterback because Randy had no plan , two of our linebackers were two star recruits who no one wanted Give the man a chance to ring his own players and develop themYes Bridgewater made us look silly but he is number one draft choice and will make a lot of defenses in the nfl look silly .My only criticism of Al is he has to much loyalty to non performing players and that is not the worst thing in the world

How much weight do you give to the Shapiro scandal? After answering that, how much weight do you give to what any top flight coach could do in Al's shoes.

This certainly doesn't help, but the lack of a surefire QB made 2014 iffy...

Clearly, he gets some benefit of the doubt when it comes to recruiting because of Shapiro. However, the defensive performance has been completely inexcusable (especially considering he is a defensive coach). Nevin doesn't affect our gameplans.

In all honesty, I think Golden keeps Doughnut on until after signing day, then hires a new DC just in time for spring practice.

Because he told everyone to get their licks in and Paul Johnson hasn't gotten his yet. It wouldn't be fair to him to leave now.

Some necessary basic changes:
1. Have a defensive identity (Alternating between the 3-4 and 4-3 has precluded us from having a real identity on defense, pick one and go with it. Trying to learn two completely different defenses is too much for college kids.)

2. Disguise coverages and blitzes much better. (We telegraph a lot of what we do; very rarely do we show blitz and back out, we never move guys around to confuse the offense. Oh look Bridgewater just completed another screen on 3rd down when he saw an obvious blitz coming. Notice what the Louisville defense did to our offensive line by constantly moving guys around.

3. Enough with bend don't break (Golden and D'onofrio both have discounted total defense stats based on yards. While I do not believe it to be a complete measurement of a defense, it is quite relevant. This defense should have a philosophy of attack, attack, and more attack, not sit back and let the offense dictate how we are going to play things).
