The talent, on BOTH sides of the ball, is simply not there yet.

The offense:
(i) Has no RB depth and lacks a decent power-back...210lbs+, who can consistently gains 3-4 tough yrds
(ii) is lead by a QB who is a poor decision maker, shows inconsistent accuracy, is immobile and arguably soft, and can't be trusted to throw over the middle of the field
(iii) has no "go to" WR
(iv) has a TE with questionable hands

Item (ii) alone is the death of most teams. It's time to stop blaming coach D, the schemes, coach C, the play calling, etc. This team is 7-1--it is a good team. It is not an elite team, FSU is. Fortunately, the coaching staff is fixing the problem....

It's really just the qb. Imagine Winston throwing to Dorsett, Hurns, Coley, and Waters. Now think about the damage Duke could do running ball with the threat of that passing attack. Maybe we wouldn't be the best in the country, but I bet we would be a very powerful offense with a better qb.

I agree its not Elite, but it can be a VERY good offense, or was til Duke got hurt. We had an above average OL, a top RB, some very good WRs in Hurns, Coley, Waters and Dorsett. What we were missing was the consistent QB play. A consistent QB would have cruised through all our games until now, and the FSU game would have been a LOT closer.

(iii) has no "go to" WR Hurns
(iv) has a TE with questionable hands One out of every six catches by Walford is for a 1st down or td...Sandland and Cleveland have been open plenty this season, but the above mentioned Qb don't see them

Our offense would be **** near elite if we had the NC quarterback.

Come to think of it, **** near ANY quarterback.

You have a top 5 OL.....3 NFL WR's (Coley, Hurns and Waters).......Duke Johnson.

Problem is at the the QB position. He can barely move in the pocket, makes terrible decisions at times and is really not much of a leader.

You put Jameis Winston or Johnny Manziel at QB and we have a much different outlook.

Funny because this same horrible qb looked fine last year..........

Not when we played anyone of any merit.

KSU
ND
FSU
UNC

He was non-existant.

He is what he is.

We already have Olsen and Kaaya is coming so I guess things are looking up.

Not only those games, but completely disappeared for 2 quarters vs GT, 3 quarters vs VT, and got the majority of his yards vs NC ST because they would jump offsides so their DB's just quit!

He was good against Duke and USF though!

No. We just need a QB.

Someone who put the ball in the playmakers hands even if for a dump off to the RB/TE for 5-7 yd gains. And be able to convert on 3 rd downs and maybe avoid shooting the offense in the foot in the redzone.

Watching Miami (Ohio) against Bowling Green last night and it was refreshing to see innovative offense. We literally do none of the **** i saw last night. They gave their QB easy throws all game and they out-leveraged the defense. They would line up in trips formation and if there wasn't a defender over #3 they threw to him right now on an easy little "stick" route for 8 yards. They rolled the pocket towards the trips and ran flood concepts.

Many of us were saying this going into the season.

A top-5 OL does not get stuffed on 4th and one and goal yardage situations against the likes of UNC and Wake Forest.

Well Winston and Manziel are two of the top-three QBs in CFB. So yes, those elite studs would make virtually any team much better.

We've allowed the least sacks and the 2nd least TFL's in the ACC and we're also among the top in Yards Per Carry.

LOL @ us not having enough talent on offense. There's OC's in this country that would kill for our WR core, a QB who's mobile and has a cannon and a RB like Duke.

We have plenty of talent, we just don't use it properly. Granted, Morris is somewhat of a mental midget at times but there's ways to design and offense around that. You can make it so your QB will have less mental errors. You can give a QB easier reads and throws. We don't exactly make things easy on Morris.

If I had Morris and this core of WR's I would spread defenses out and use leverage against them. I could hit guys like Coley on simple "stick" routes or inside hitch routes against the LB's and if defenses bumped out to cover our slots I would run the ball. All this nonsense we do, with all these **** vertical routes outside the hashes only makes things more difficult for Morris.
