New testimony backs up Shapiro claims

I'm actually still not sure if going to a party on a yacht is a violation.
Is it?
This isn't a no show job or straight out cash under the table but a party on a boat?
What's the big deal?

if it is its definitely a secondary violation

many schools self reports "hundreds" of secondary violations every year and does not lose so much of a scholarship

That's what I'm wondering. Had they gone to a random house party would that be a violation? I don't think so.

No one is disputing that players went on his yacht, or went bowling, or to clubs. Some received extra benefits on top of that. The whole point now is that players were punished, his money was returned, Miami gave up the two bowls and the ACCCG, along with scholarships and visits already, in addition to the length of the investigation basically being worse than probation because of what it's done to recruiting. The COI needs to review the case and say time served, and be done with it.

The NCAA needs to open the investigation back due to this bit of groundbreaking news

Too little, way tooo late. It doesn't corroborate anything more than what was accused in the first place. Moving on.

Just to understand what he is saying, he didn't mention specific athletes in his deposition. But Torres said he "saw them on the boat" when he was asked how he knew the 69-foot yacht was used by Miami recruits and athletes.

So let me get this straight, this guy is unable to name specific athletes but he "saw them on the boat."

This proves nothing. Besides the fact that an athlete could have graduated/declared for the draft etc. he can't even name a single athlete on the boat and coordinate that with a time.

Talk about a smoking gun.

Could you imagine if he saw Wilfork on the boat AFTER he declared for the draft? THE HORROR!!!!

So we have another convict the NCAA is now trying to buddy up with too??? Holy moly...

title is misleading

there is no "new" info. the ******* investigation has lasted almost 3 years. you think these guys just had some revelation?

I thinks not

Well, the testimony is new in the sense that it comes from a new witness. But, the new witness doesn't seem to provide any new information and the vague stuff attributed to him appears to be useless in any event.

i just want to know who pays for Johnny Manziel to be all over the place?.

dude was at the nfl draft and at **** near every last sporting event viewed...

If you were a convicted felon, wouldn't you want to be buddy buddy with the NCAA? I mean, all you have to do is say anything you want and they'll buy you a cell phone, pay for your calls, and write a letter to a judge asking for leniency, all before confirming a single thing you said.

If he didn't know who they were, then how'd he know whether they were Miami recruits or athletes or former players / or, for that matter, associated with some other school?

Because he said it twice...

This new revelation is a non-story.

He couldn't provide names so what good is this to the NCAA? This is just the NCAA trying to swing public opinion back in their favor; and it isn't going to work.
