New Rule on Official Visits

Why wouldn’t every kid go to Hawaii?

On the other hand it potentially helps us too as far as desirable places to visit but it can get expensive fast if we aren’t careful

Obviously things could change in the future, but Hawaii has historically been VERY careful with their OVs, only letting guys come who were very serious commits, and not just guys who were "taking a vacation. Some of it may be budgetary too, it's expensive to fly guys out to Hawaii, but I'd expect that this "carefulness" is now a cultural thing for their program.

EDIT: Just saw Creative and Relly addressed the same point. Wasn't it Kaaya (or maybe Marve) who took a visit to Hawaii a few years back?

Every change has its negatives.

The trick is to figure out the positives for YOUR school, and use those to YOUR advantage.

You got bag schools, and you have perennial power schools that will get visits - generally the same teams - but you may be just outside the five strongest and still have a lot to offer. Maybe beaches, warmer weather, and a growing upcoming program.

And thus get some visits you'd have missed as you would have been the 6th team they were interested in. But now they can come and take a look.

This may work to UM's benefit. Even if you only pick off one or maybe even two top recruits while being the sixth or seventh program they were previously interested in - you got your exposure. You get to make your pitch. On campus.

In marketing - you want more traffic. Miami is a real nice place to visit. Get 'em here, sell them, and see if you can't gain some recruits who just merge with what the school really has to offer - that they hadn't had a chance to consider previously.

Apparently NCAA doing away with the 5 OV limit for kids. Can still only do one per school, barring a HC change. Not sure how I feel. Great for the kids but seems like it could open the door for a lot of duckers and kids taking free vacations. More so than they already do at least.

5 is a lot. What school is willing to be the 8th, 9th or 10th visit? What kid has the time to do 8+ visits anyways?

Should be limited to 3 visits max. Don’t think it’ll change much if schools are still limited on how many ov visitors they can have a year

Schools still have OV limits. Won’t be as wild as you might think it’ll be. The timeline only allows for maybe 8 OVs per kid if they were all on weekends. Might be able to squeeze in 10 using week days too but the reality is most kids are sick of visits after 5 OVs.
100%….

Unless you are from south Florida. I can see it now some kids taking 15-20 officials

What timeline is this? Because dudes already take OVs before, during, and after the season, now they can take them from post signing day junior year through the second singing day in Feb senior year lol. Tell coaches they will commit and shut it down early (in the spring) and sign early and then continue to visit schools all summer, fall and winter 😂

Correct, this year the limit is 56 total although look for down the road for this limit to be increased or eliminated.

Also in 2023 OVs can occur starting on April 1 - June 25 and then resume Sept 1st.

A player can still only OV at a school once, unless there's a coaching change.

It's not a bad thing at all. Good for the kids(and those "caretakers").

I think the best way to describe it is it will be ANNOYING as a fan or just someone that heavily follows recruiting. Thank Gawd I no longer give a **** lol

Good for a middle of the road D1 kid. Maybe a bit overshadowed. (not a camp guy, undersized, etc). Less hype but plenty of happy suiters. I’d be all over it.

See states on their dime. Sample the ladies of ASU, burn a couch in Morgantown WV.. try the bbq all across 🇺🇸. Meet cool folks. Make real contacts. Excellent for networking & life experiences.

Don’t quote me (and totally ignore me if they’ve changed this calendar) but it’s like April 1-June 30 their junior year and then after September 1 they’re senior year the only time you can OV. The reason I said they can’t squeeze that many in is because their HS season goes through November, then they’re playing 7v7 in that April-June time frame. Track limits what some do in the spring.

Kids taking 7-8+ visits are just gonna get dropped because of red flags by most schools.
