New Raising Canes Video

Are they gonna let McCord keep #17 or switch his number when the season starts?

I doubt he redshirts. I think we'll see him in a package or whatever. Probably more of a 3-4 OLB pass rush specialist.

Nope.. That's the number he chose in honor of former TE Coleman Bell. Bell wore 17 and also was a graduate of Jefferson High in Tampa.

Ahhh gotcha. Just didn't remember many QBs sharing their number with someone on defense but then again its definitely something I could have missed many times over because I wasn't paying attention.

Got to take all this with a grain of salt, again its just one players journey. The last video with Howard, whos a youngin we expect to contribute, looked much more polished as far as knowing his position and understanding whats expected of him. McCord is having to put on weight, while trying to get into the best shape of his life, oh and he's learning a new position and new techniques. You have to expect some sort of learning curve. This is a guy who for now will use his athleticism on special teams, and hopefully will have sometime to settle down and get comfortable before we need to use him as a situational pass rusher off the edge in a 3-4. Which is the most that can be expected from him this year.

From everything else thats been said by Golden and Staff, aside from a few positions of course, is that this team is understanding what its really going to take to get this program to the next level. As well as some of these young guys have prepared themselves for this level, there is nothing like the real thing.

Can't solely base your opinion on a 2 minute clip of a guy playing in his first college-level scrimmage ever, but for the general frailness of his body and the pretty obvious lack of conditioning, McCord looks like the perfect example of a guy who would greatly benefit from a RS but won't because we were left in such a mudhole in terms of depth at his position that he'll have to try and do his best to contribute right away...

This is a prime example of why I believe it is way too optimistic to set the bar at 9 on the over under for wins this year. This unit has a chance to be really special with all the talent coming in at pretty much every position this year and hopefully next, we look like we could be stacked for years to come. It sucks though that we could have to jeopardize some of the careers of these youngsters because of the mess this staff inherited. I, as many have stated before, would've prefered Bush at CB, would've liked to have had more freedom to RS players, etc. The future looks very bright, my friends, but the near future will undoubtebly bring us our share of growing pains. We will be back, but we can't expect a group so young, as talented as it is, to be perfect so early. They WILL make mistakes, but if the coaches can teach them not to repeat those, we might be holding crystal a few years down the road.

i see people calling people lazy and i dont see them practicing in pads and helmet in 105 deg heat... so chill... they will get it eventually.... They are 17 and 18 year old kids...

besides that... Earl Moore is a man... kid is huge... he will be special for us

Except we aren't playing D1 football at the University of ******* Miami

Obviously they will get it, but it is a lazy thing to be doing for a high end D1 athlete to be seeking shade during a scrimmage (or practice, or game)

They are 2 weeks into being a high end D1 athlete. Like Golden says... "It's a process"

You can't expect HS kids to come right in and completely transform their habits in 2 weeks. If they were upperclassmen you'd have a point. But these are kids who are just getting their feet wet in this level of competition and practice intensity.
