MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

I can’t really comment on Miami’s side; all I know is if we within 18 months of our contact inform Adidas we will not be renewing, we can then get the ball rolling.

And for the record, that date is January 1, 2026.

I'm still hopeful that the Branch situation inspires Miami to exit the adidas disaster one year early.

I can tell u unequivocally we’ve lost 13 recruits we had real shots at b/c of branding. It’s not the end all, but it plays a factor especially when it comes to NIL.

Part of the reason Auburn made the switch to Nike was b/c both Bruce Pearl & Hugh Freeze complained about Under Armour hurting recruiting, especially Bruce.

Any surprise that after the announcement that AU basketball went from ranking 74th, many yrs unranked or bottom 150, & since the move to Nike back in the top 15-20?

It’s a different game right now, & every little bit needs to be addressed to make sure we’re getting the cream of crop consistently, not just a few players here & there.

And RFP would be more "required" for a state school. Not saying that Miami never does RFPs, but it's not 100% necessary.
That’s what I was thinking since Miami is private. Going through the RFP process would require a lot more coordination and time to get through. And IF that was the case, there would more urgency to getting started now so we could meet those dates.

January 1, 2026 being the date that our contract expires?

If so, I would say that date is not an ideal date due to the ordering windows the vendors use to get orders for the following season. Hopefully we notify them at beginning of summer/early fall so we can place orders for the 2026 season.

June 30, 2027 is when the contract expires, but u need that 18 month window to make intent known.

I responded to @Rellyrell 's point about needing 18 months notice. The notice date is 1/1/2026. Less than 12 months away.

I’m a little out of the loop, what happened with Branch?

In addition to the "regular NIL", we would have needed to pay off his deal with Jordan Brand, as he would not have been able to wear Jordan Brand during his time at UM.

But UGa is a Nike school, so he can collect his "regular NIL" plus the Jordan Brand money.

Whooooa! Not so fast Adidas. Lol. My homegirl & I was talking about how much of a mess Adidas was, & since she was on the Yeezy line, I was like I’m fairly certain Ye owns the intellectual design rights to the Yeezy line, while Adidas owns the branding rights. She said, go on…and started smirking. I said, then how is it Adidas talking real tough about how they’ll be re-releasing his designs w/o his name w/o compensation. Her reply? B/c they can’t.

And this just came out:

Folks, when I told u about Adidas & contracts, I wasn’t being vague. We need to leave; they literally don’t know wtf they r doing, not over in this country, at least. They got the CEO from Puma to come over, not realizing Puma’s resurgence had chit to do w/ him & everything to do w/ Jay-Z’s prowess. Lotta chit hitting the fan on that side & their evaluations r continuing to free fall.
