I can't give this post enough 100's.

Absolute truth.
The same fanbase that left Nike merch on the shelves for YEARS? Keep in mind, a lot of our “fans” still rock gear from almost 25 years ago. Let’s stop pretending that these fans are being held back from buying merch. Our fans are cheap, always has been, always will be.

12 years is beyond brain dead

TAMU at least only did a 5 year 47 million deal

The fact that you think that Nike doesn’t reuse templates for multiple schools is hilarious. Sportswear providers have been leveraging the same look for entire leagues for decades. It’s nothing new, and honestly, it’s a sound business practice.

Making this decision based on the cheapest fanbase in collegiate athletics is a fools errand. Make the decision that makes the most business sense. If Nike comes up with the best deal or even matches Adidas, you run with Nike if so inclined. You do not give Nike a price or service break, just because.

Until Nike commits to treating Miami well, you stick with the entity that actually wants you and is a major player in their own right. This is a business relationship and business relationships are usually built on logic. You can’t let emotions and nostalgia get in the way of doing what needs to be done.

Would he be on board with leaving Adidas?

The quality of the Nike apparel, I still own from years ago. And bring back New Era for hats please.

I cringe when shopping online for Miami merchandise, Adidas sucks

New Era is killing it with college hats.

Miami doesn't do New Era. Instead, we get Top of the World...

LOL, what a ******* joke.

This has got to be a joke. Or else you let Harry Rothwell use your log-in.

What kind of Beta-Blake-gobbling bull****ter says that Nike merchandise didn't sell "for YEARS"? That's a lie. The Nike merchandise sold every year, and sold EVEN BETTER when we had something exciting going on. In the LAST YEAR with Nike, when the writing was clearly on the wall, and Beta Blake was cashing out our uniforms for cash payments, Nike introduced the Smoke jersey, and it sold like crazy. You can barely even find that jersey on eBay or anywhere else, because nobody wants to get rid of it. And the rest of the Nike merch sold too. I guaran-*******-tee you one thing, AllCanes and CanesWear did not have lengthy clearance sales of Nike merch, that stuff sold because people wanted it, not because the price was reduced.

Now, @Rellyrell and I have already given numerous accounts of how the UM-Nike relationship deteriorated under The Shermanator and Beta Blake. We did not have good decision-making by the AD's office and we were not playing winning football.

But there are other truths as well. The UM Bookstore in 2025 looks NOTHING like the UM Bookstore of 2015 when it comes to UM merchandise and the capacity to market and sell a wide range of merch. And the Rivals website(s) in 2025 look NOTHING like the websites of 2015. The entire merchandise game has changed, and the concept of "merch left on the shelves for years" is both false for 2015 and unthinkable for 2025. Just sheer stupidity.

Not to mention the ignorant falsehoods like our fans are "cheap" and "still rocking gear from 25 years ago". For one thing, the reason why people "rock gear from 25 years ago" is because THAT'S WHEN WE WERE WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS. Not because of "cheapness". And I choose to buy Miami Nike gear on eBay BECAUSE IT IS BETTER QUALITY that adidas, not because I'm cheap. There are exceptions. The adidas polo I'm wearing today at work is high quality and durable. But sadly, the batch of adidas polos I bought in 2024 (the ones that had different colors around the collar and buttons) are flimsy ill-fitting crap.

Ultimately, while I have great respect for Harry Rothwell, his issues with "Nike vs. adidas customer service" should be nowhere near the top of the considerations for UM. I empathize with his situation, but the truth is that we should go with the apparel company that is the MOST dominant and popular and reliable over the years. Sure, maybe Harry encountered some customer service issues with Nike 10 years ago, I get it. But if that were some chronic Nike issue, why doesn't that happen at every school in 2025? Maybe it's an issue Nike addressed years ago? Or maybe the problem was UM?

It's time to stop telling 10 year old lies. It's time to stop carrying water for Beta Blake, he's long-gone and living in Boston.

I know I think of Fresno State when I think of Miami, so definitely in good company…

I’m sure Rad has this under control.
As goes Fresno State, so Goes Miami.

Copyright that and put it on an ill-fitting Adidas shirt and you'll make bank.

I'm going to bypass the "cheap" comments (for now), as I happen to think that they are racist tropes that have turned into inaccurate stereotypes.

I'll simply comment on your second paragraph. The words sound logical. But your conclusions are based upon a lie. "Unless Nike commits to treating Miami well" is just a long-ago lie that has been retold to justify Beta Blake trying (and failing) to establish his signature achievement for UM.

I don't give a **** whether adidas or Nike "wants us". Of course they want us. We are one of the top brands in college football, both from an athletic achievement standpoint and a "sells merch" standpoint. So this isn't about being "wanted" or being "treated well". The University of Miami is not looking for a girlfriend.

Beta Blake poisoned the well a long time ago. He converted Miami uniforms and equipment allowances into straight cash payments, and then had the nerve to "cry wolf" by blaming Nike for not supplying us uniforms and equipment. That's a fact.

But you really have to stop with the "cheap" comments. It's both untrue and racist.

So r u going to continue to dodge my direct ? or r u going to continue to parrot the same bull ****; when did Nike treat us bad? I need u to ball sack up & actually provide info; & no, not matching Adidas’ offer doesn’t constitute treating us bad.

You know the Canes will lose if I don't wear by lucky Kosar jersey to every game....

Granted, but we also need to honest. This “Miami fans will buy merch only if it’s Nike” narrative isn’t borne out by facts because if the Canes aren’t winning and WINNING BIG, this fanbase doesn’t buy diddly no matter which logo is embroidered on the item.

I still remember fans whining during the final years of the Nike era “The uniforms and gear are garish, why can’t Nike bring back the throwback look” Adidas has done that throughout the athletic department with baseball and football being among the cleanest uniform looks we’ve seen in decades, fans still complaining. I understood back when the fan version of the jerseys were straight trash, that isn’t really the case anymore. Outside of not releasing some player only stuff to the general public, Adidas has done a good job of consistently improving their offerings and designs. If you can’t find stuff you like at this point, it’s more a you problem compared to what Adidas is putting out.
