New Depth Chart

I don't know about moving Perryman, but I think we have better balance with Gaines out of the middle.

Gaines and Cornelius at OLB....man.

On a positive note, I love the look of the offensive line.

I doubt both Gaines and Cornelius are starters week 1. gotta think that Ray Buch and or Kirby will take their spots (fingers crossed)

Yeah of course its still early. I dont expect some of these guys to start.

I wonder what we get out of Buchanon this year if he is healthy? Dude seems to have the talent but doesnt show it much.

Technical question for OL guys:

It seems that since Henderson was in HS he has been pegged as a LT all the way, with pro Rd1 potential, why is it that he is continually used on the right side?

It's been said that Bunche is outperforming him at LT and RT is the best way to get our best 5 on the field.

I like Perryman in the middle. Good to see Tyrone Cornelius is finally showing a pulse. I'd like to get Kirby on the field somewhere though.

Our D End situation is atrocious. The corner situation is bad (though I like Gunter) but at least theres help on the way at corner. Our D Ends outside of Chick are brutal. Cain looks decent. Maybe Jelani Hamilton can play right away but the other freshman are projects. Don't have a ton of confidence in Shayon Green.

Love the O line. Hopefully we find a way to put it all together up front. Kehoe needs to stop shuffling guys around and let these guys develop together as a unit. These 5 guys (plus maybe Feliciano) and a running back rotation of Mike James OT and Duke will move the chains.

This is the LB group I was hoping to see as starters coming into the spring - exactly this way too. I was upset when Golden said Perryman wasn't going to play MLB. Seemed too much like a perfect fit and I like Gaines outside.

Cornelius I am big on at OLB too. Have to remember he was looking good at OLB when he enrolled early that spring and did lead us in tackles on kick offs (including that knock out blow against UNC) his freshman year. Last spring he got moved to safety so that retarded his development some-along with being on that secret suspension with Cain and Henderson. But when he did get snaps at OLB he looked good. I think Cornelius is going to be a STUD this year. Will be the 2nd best LB for us behind Perryman.

glad to see Highsmith #1 at safety. if nothing else he adds better speed (even if his ain't great either).

happy for Luther Robinson. I thought it would have been a mistake to move him from DL considering the other back up options.

and I would be all for Dye and Perry being moved back to DE from TE. Or just Dye moved back. We could use some more size over there. Probably could even play some DT considering how small the back up DTs are besides Robinson.

oline looks fantastic, hopefully they can all stay healthy and have the year they should...i know how golden plays all those mind games with the depth chart but do you guys actually think highsmith has a chance at starting?

I think you are actually spot on with the mind games that golden likes to play. I think he uses it not only for motivation with people who think they have the position locked up like VT but also to reward people for hard work. I don't think anyone actually expects Chickillo to stay at #2 come fall but he didn't play in the scrimmage on Saturday.

I don't think this depth chart means much of anything.

outside of the injured players coming back and a couple of the freshmen...I think this depth chart is pretty close to what we will see against BC barring injuries/suspensions.

Kinda funny how this whole thread noone mentioned McGee getting his starting job back.

Sounds like he did what Golden challenged him to do and he is getting a shot tomorrow.

Not sure about Cornelius but I actually like Gaines on the outside and thought he should have been there from the get go. Perryman in the middle is also a very sound move. It's been a long time since we had a presence like him in the middle.

Yeah at first I was a bit unsure. I really like Perryman on the outside but I think he can play anywhere. I think we gain more by putting Gaines on the outside though. Just hope someone steps up over Cornelius. He has always been a nice athlete but I dont know about starting OLB.

They are running out of ways to motivate him. Everyone is tired of his **** and we all are hoping for him to finally 'get it'. Sure hpe it finallly sinks in. Very curious to see what he shows this scrimmage versus the last one.

I always thought RRA was the SS and VT was the FS. Really wondering why Highsmith is ahead of VT though. Cornelious is a shock for me he is a bit undersized and think Eddie Johnson is much better. I dont see Ricardo Williams on the depth chart.

These depth charts are just another way for the staff to send the message that a player needs to do more. They want more out of Chick and VT. That's what I get from that depth chart.

On the other hand, the offensive depth chart looks strong. I take it that the guys we expect to make an impact on offense next season are putting in the work and being recognized for it.
