New Depth Chart Out

I dont like reading into these depth charts, but three things i want to get fixed ASAP

1. No more Dorsett in PR dam it,, this **** needs to stop now.
2. Shayon Green as a starter still? WTF, i feel im taking crazy pills. When we have Gilbert in there, you can tell the difference.
3. Bush should not backup Jenkins, we need bush back ASAP. Period. Btw, Jenkins played excellent vs U***. Much props.

Someone didn't watch the Gator game.

this green love parade is making me sick to my stomach. Green averages about 5 -7 tackles per game, because he is like a Nile River Crocodile - he is patient and lets the pray come to him.

Green has a role which the Florida game illustrated. All you had to do is watch. He is a run stopping end. He was miscast before because we didn't have any other options. He doesn't play in a pass rush situations now. If every play was 3rd and long he wouldn't ever play. He plays on run downs and he does a **** good job. Unless you want McCord getting the ball run down his throat you should be thankful that Green is available.

Not only this, but Gilbert still is being worked in slowly due to chronic foot injury. We need him more late in the season than now.

Am i the only one that think Dorsett would be better in the slot?

That's where he gets most of his big plays down the field.

Dorsett makes most of his big plays down the field because he can get a matchup with a safety like in the UF game against Cody Riggs. I know Riggs isn't a pure Safety and has a CB skill set though.

However, he doesn't have the skill set of "slot receiver" in terms of quickness in and out of breaks, change of directions, and acceleration. His use in the slot is purely a formation/match-up play for vertical routes. What we need is a crafty receiver who can work the short part of the field between the hash marks. Would really open things up for the other guys.

Exactly. He's a dangerous deep threat as the X receiver in that flipped twins alignment that Fisch ran and Coley continues to run as part of the 2x1 formation. As an H or Z receiver I haven't seen much to suggest that he would be effective running short to intermediate option routes. The slot receiver needs to be a rugged, physical guy who moves the chains. Personally, I don't think Dorsett is that type of receiver.

He covering a RB or a TE in the game something he should never do.

Dorsett burned Maye. I saw they put in Gorman after that.

It was Waters who beat Riggs on the out route in the endzone

And it's a very effective one.

Dorsett is much quicker out of breaks than he's getting for, but I agree that he's not a pure slot receiver. The only guy who fits that profile is Dallas Crawford, and he's at running back. However, Dorsett is very dangerous there and it has led to many big plays (including the NC State bonanza).

My paesan, Antonio Crawford, showed some weakness against uf#g, and that shark Artie Burns smelled the blood. Won't be long before Artie starts getting serious burn.

Gall is a really mean dude. I said when he committed that he's the type of guy you build a line around. His nastiness will rub off on others, and, before you know it, that whole OL will be greasy and grimy.

I may be the minority here bra, but i still feel Crawford can be really good. He had perfect coverage against patten (Fl wr) and he was step by step with their fastest wr... He failed to put his hands up, but i can guarantee you that he is no DVD for crying out loud. I am excited to see burns get some reps doe!!

I don't think you're in the minority at all. I love Crawford. It's just nice to see some sharks out there looking to bite his voice box out if he slips. Nice to have some sharks swimming in that defensive backfield instead of pilot fish Weak Florist castoffs like Mike Williams and a slow RB like Hot Tub Lee Chambers.

While your point is understood and well taken, i still feel we can get more production from our DE position. For example, im not too crazy about Chickillo, but i have noticed that he is equally the same in both the run and passing. Every so often, Chick will put pressure on the QB. My problem with green is that he lacks serious mobility for my taste. Again, im not trying to be bash the kid because against GT he is going to be needed. I just want to fast forward to the future and hopefully we will have #98 and Chad Thomas chasing opposing Qb's.

I disagree strongly on all 3.

1. Dorsett has struggled mightily the first two games making any impact at all on special teams. We are not thin on playmakers so we can put someone else in there who arguably can be just as effective (herb, corn, coley, etc). And avoid a possible injury to dorsett that could be otherwise preventable.

2.Shayon was all over the place against Florida. He has been everything we need in a d lineman so far (this year). No reason to bench him at all. And we have a good rotation where everyone is getting significant snaps anyways so unless we're talking about Chick, there's no differentiation between a starter and a rotation player

3. bush is still coming back from injury. I'm sure he'll get playing time at some point but why not rest him more when we are playing a pop Warner team and his only action would be completely meaningless

Dude, you sound like we are still in the "Coker Country club" era bra. The time is now dam it!!! if you have playmakers that are young, let them make their mistakes...As Denzel said in the movie -remember the titans - "let them play".
If you have an upperclassmen not producing in special teams for two straight years, i just dont understand your justification to leaving Dorsett in there?
Shayon Green,,, OMG, come on man,, Listen, Green is playing with pure heart and soul (cant take that from him), but be honest with yourself, do you still want to be an average team? How many sacks do he have in the last two seasons? My bad, i have a better question, how many QB hurries does he have ? I think i know the answer-0!!!

Do you think this is a pop-warner, recreational team which requires for all players to get some action in order to be in compliance with the league's policy? Dont think so, we want to be great, so lets start thinking like a great team.

Now, pertaining to bush, he is arguably our best defensive player, So if he has been fully cleared by the Dr's to play and he feels he is ready to go, let him looose !!!

Btw, not trying to beef with you personally, i just respectfully disagree with your analytical assessments bra.

Well i ended up correcting the Dorsett line because I misread your statement. I thought you were angry that Dorsett wasn't on the PR team (I hadn't checked the new depth chart out at this point and thought Dorsett had been taken off). So we agree on the Dorsett part and about getting the youngsters in. You can tell by my points I made that we think the same on that one.

As for the other two, thats the beauty of message boards I suppose, debating on certain opinions is what makes sites like this possible. It could go either way and I see where you are coming from. I just personally think if anything after the Florida game, I was expecting people to finally give Green a little more credit considering he played very well. I don't have time to look up the stats on qb hurries and everything, but he is excellent in run support and is typically very good at being where he needs to be. Leading the team in tackles at D end last year is what I like to see,(it means he's shredding off blocks and stopping a lot of backs at the line of scrimmage). i'm not saying he's elite or anything or even one of the best in the ACC, just saying he has done what is asked of him and I don't think anyone has taken the spot from him so far.

we certainly don't have to play all players to adhere to pop warner rules, but if we don't play everyone then I think it is a waste. This is why teams like Miami schedule these games, an easy win and game time experience for young players. This defense is all about rotation, and when you look to the future, young guys need playing experience, and repetitions. The starting defense will gain next to nothing playing Savannah State. They rush for .8 yards per carry. Bush should get playing time, but I don't think him not starting is that big of a deal, could just be a motivational technique by coaches telling Deon that he needs to step it up and the job won't just be handed to him

regardless of who plays miami will more than likely get a shutout

Green is very underrated on these boards, I could see him having pro bowl years on the Steelers or Ravens. High caliber player!

"Pro Bowl" is quite the stretch when referring to Shayon Green. Love the dude and he's a warrior for what he's endured during his college career, but "pro bowl" is not the first thought that comes to mind when assessing his attributes.

I think the or with Corn Elder, Dmauri Jones, And even Cain have more to do with our opponent this week than the moves they are making. I saw Corn playing against FAU and that kid is SMALL. He was getting thrown around by FAU players...lol

I would not be surprised though if Artie was actually making a push, he looks the part and I have felt like Gunter has looked slow. I think they may be letting Crawford know he needs to improve and, fast....

I could be over thinking this but thats my take.

They really liked Corn before his hamstring injury

One day...Gall, Darling and Gibbons. Oh, that's some mean isht. Coming to a stadium near you, soon. Can't wait.

so id say the biggest news coming out of this depth chart is the fact that burns is the co-starter. tim reynolds apparently doesnt think so even tho every other canes beat writer thinks that the biggest news to come out of this chart. he gets all defensive and sarcastic when you point out that he dropped the ball there. def agree w those who think reynolds has become too ****y for his own good
