Imagine how many will get that medical redshirt as well, high chance you’re gonna get injured in those 5 years of playPermanent COVID year.
Injuries can wipe out a season at any time. I would allow multiple medical redshirts but the injury needs to cost the player a full season before the season, or perhaps within the first 4 games. No returning for CFP or bowls. No medical redshirts for missing games off and on with a nagging injury.I think they should just make it you have 5 years after you graduate HS and upon you starting college of eligibility, period. You enroll in a college your 5 yr clock begins, period. How it gets used is irrelevant.
Then you can Only be granted an extra year of eligibility under 1 circumstance - Season ending injury in final year of eligibility when you have played 4 games or less and missed the rest of the season (so no returning for playoff type **** either).
That imo is fair across the board
