Susan D Miller is that ugly...I mean THAT ugly

You are not allowed to take pics or stalk the players...maybe 30 people there over all...

where we stand its 100 yards from where the Qbs/RBs/WRs do drills...hard to really see anything
when they line up to do scrimmages they are 100+ yards away and line the players up so seeing everything was impossible...Pete I am sure was in the huddle...because all the Media and HS recruits were with us 100+ yards away.....I did leave around 11 (rain & had to see clients) maybe they moved closer after I left..

The LBs, DL, Dbs all ran drills in front of us...this is where I will get negged into oblivion...

Our three studs, Figs, Kirbs and Denzel..are big and fast..but Barrow ran this drill where he played Qb, had a FB and TE running and doing routes...there were three groups of LBs..I just focused on The first two groups..
2nd group was Blue and Grace & ?? I think they rotated a few guys..

anyway....they ran the drill at least 10 times...our black shirt group messed up the drill no more than 5 times..running into each other..leaving the TE open etc...it was unbelievable they few guys I was standing around started laughing at one point when all three of the LBs ( black shirts ) ran into each other...the 2nd group seemed actually better at the drill.....FIGS is a hard worker he finished every drill hard...denzel should have a great year 100+ tackles...but he needs to take over running the Defense make it his...I am not sure is its Barrow or the guys intelligence of football smarts....they seemed like basic drills. Barrow was trying to mix it up and it worked...

the DL all looked good, their drills were simple and just working on technique...Jethro seems like a great guy..he will make you run laps if you ***** up...or walk back ask Ufomba Kamalu...

The Dbs were a lil further away..but talent is there...Bush looks the part as does Carter...safety play will improve

They did run some limited scrimmages in front of us with Crow at Qb working on the Defense...( this is where I am going to get killed)....Coach D works his *** off in this scrimmage...in the middle with the guys..down on the ground with the guys..24/7 coaching, encouraging...screaming but in a coaching manor...he went after coaches about technique...he congratulates when done properly you can see why the players like him. I am not saying this guy is not still a liability but he puts on a show ( show could be it) that he is the best coach out there coaching....on water breaks he grabbed Grace to the side and worked with him..patted his *** walked back to the cooler with him....Grace on the next play made a great stop...coach D was all over him saying thats it thats it...see that guys...HOW HARD IS THAT>>LISTEN GUYS LISTEN.....anyway I am not defending him, its what I saw....

Olsen is better in person that I expected , its still Williams job to lose..he seems so in charge etc...

I took away that work is still to be done but improvement is there the tools are there. Practice is just that PRACTICE..we get the vids which are 30 sec sound bites...not the vibe or felling that is actually going on

PS....Ice was working the HS players that were there..mostly central boys but he impressed me too changed my opinion about him....

O'Donnell last years best player was running and working out...he is big boy.

Like I said this was my take...not a media guy at all...I am sure I missed a ton of other things..hard to see everything when they are scattered over 3 fields...

Thanks for the writeup! The LB's story is hilarious!

I felt Flowers was our best player last year. But I don't wanna hijack.

From what I've seen coach D works his *** of but that doesn't change the fact that he is incompetent.

First thing I thought of when I read that was "Sun Life"

Does anyone know what Ice is and isn't supposed to do?

That was my point....some people just dig great holes going no where...??
if you were new to the game and had no idea who he was...you would have thought he was the HC...he was that vocal and working the **** out of guys...

Coaching staff will be judged by product on the field, but they won't fail for lack of effort. They seem like tireless workers.

Good stuff. Any thoughts on the middle of the D? Did you actually see Moore or Hamilton improving?

Jelani has spurts of greatness...I thought at one time during the D scrimmage he was the best player out there...moves inside well etc..

Moore I really did not pay attention to...My bad

a Grad Assist told a few of us standing there that....the D lineman ( and he said not naming names) last year..were told to stay engaged with a tackle/Guard so or Lb or blitz package would work..the Tackle or guard baited them and our DL would release trying to make the play..plugging the hole for or package to work..allowing more secs for the QB to complete the pass or RB to cut or get to the edge..he said our corners when sent were always running around our players very few had be lines to the Qb..he said at the Bowl game with Bush sacked Teddy early in the game that was text book...d lineman stay with the Oline moving left teddy saw that moved right and Deion had an easy play...

Now I see why the blitzes didn't work last year...d-linemen are to shoot their gaps during a blitz to cause confusion between the o-line so that the second and third level have a clear shot at the Qb through their gaps. When you sit there and hold the guy the guy blitzing has to run around the d-lineman engaged with the tackle or guard which takes time. That leaves the receivers all day to get open in the zone or against man. Also, the offenses did last year versus the blitzes was keep in the back for protection just in case someone miraculously got through or flare the Rb out for a quick 30 yard gain (see FSU game), or drag the receiver over the middle for first downs on third and long (every game) or the TE for 80 yard gain (UNC)...if you are going to play that scheme your going to need a couple bad *** d-linemen that will command double teams and some big *** lbs that can run through and around the o-line. Through recruiting I can say these types of players are being brought in and the guys already here are bulking up there maybe some improvement from last year.
