4 down and ACC play to go, the Canes capped off the series with "in state rivals" (LAWLZ) USF yesterday in Tampa. :crownpour: Pour a glass for Willie Taggart because uphill battle is an understatement. He most likely will not get a fair shake there unless they he gets 4 years at least to turn it around. Here are a few quick thoughts from an overall standpoint.

The Canes first team made the bulls first team look like SSU all over again. It was incredibly easy for the canes to move the ball down the field and aside from the first drive the defense was equally as impressive. Even our 2nd team was moving the ball at will.

It didnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that USF were coached by someone, maybe not necessarily the head coach, to go after Morris ankle and Dukes head. There was a play on a screen pass out to duke where duke dropped the ball yet the defender still came in for a helmet to helmet shot with no flag thrown. With all the targeting BS and mamby pamby flags across the country, this is one that SHOULD have been called. I wasnt surprised to hear Morris post game comments calling USF dirty. I was wondering during the game if I was just being a ***** homer or if they were really cheap shotting us.

Taggart, when your beat, your beat my dude. We had our third team defense in and he still had all of his starters in down big in the 4th quarter. He is lucky that they escaped with minimal injury but they left with zero dignity and zero respect. By the way, they are 0-4 now with losses to Mcneese, Mich St, FAU, and Miami. What a way to start your tenure.

Saw alot on Twitter yesterday about how Golden should have handled this particular "game situation". Yes, most teams in the country leave the starters in until the late 3rd or 4th quarter and dont take the foot off the gas. They are mostly scrutinized and criticized for doing this as well, especially guys like Urban who is loathed by Canes fans. I personally, didnt have a problem with playing the 2's and 3's with a big lead. If there was a lesson to be taught, I would think that "we have our 3's in against you", is more of a lesson than beating you down 77-7 with the first teamers. Im just saying here... you cant criticize a coach for running it up, and then BLAST our coach when we dont teach an inferior school a "lesson". Just my opinion on the situation. Yes 77-7 would have looked better than 49-21 but the injuries were minimal and alot of players got very meaningful reps.

Couple of Game Balls to give out

Stephen Morris, good god the arm on this guy. Standing in the pocket, taking shots while he throws an accurate 60 yard strike without even stepping into it. This dude is a beast and looked like he was in late last year form while he was in the game.

Al Golden, your a classy dude

Stacy Coley - I hope this guy never gets a nickname, Stacy Coley is enough to strike fear into the heart of any opposing secondary. His stride and the way he returns kicks, I cant liken him to ANYONE ELSE but Devin Hester. They have the SAME running style.

OLINE - Continue to progress and this was their best game of the season thus far

Dallas Crawford - All that boy does is score touchdowns.

The whole defense - Them boys continue to play well

Ryan Williams - This dude has come in this year and im pretty sure made at least 80% of the Cane population a little bit more comfortable about what we have at QB next year. The guy looks REALLY good.

THE CANES FANS - They showed up by the droves. While the USF faithful was too busy preparing for "pleasure island" later in the day, the Canes glorious traveled up to occupy about 75% of the filled seats in Tampa. Love it.

One last game ball gotta go to Steven Bench. Kid took some licks and showed some toughness. Also showed some stupidity trying to half assedly throw a block on Shayon Green. Shayon owned Bench on this day, and Bench kept coming back. Just seeing that shows me he is 15x the player, QB, person that Bobby Eveld is.

4-0
Undefeated OOC this year

not be Contrarian but as a defender your not really sure if that pass is behind the line of scrimmage until they whistle ball dead.. so in his defense he has to act like its a live ball.. great post thanks

Al didn't have a whole lot to say to Taggart after the game. I thought it was telling. Considering they flagged 'aggins for his takedown and Tracy for putting both hands in the air, you'd think they'd flag USF for one of the half dozen head shots on Duke.

Agreed on the gameball to Dallas, ran hard all day.

Give it up for Mo for the checkdowns too, great to see that.

i was more talking the helmet to the head more so than that actual play on the ball.

Great post. Am I crazy to say that Williams reminds me of Dorsey? kid has to be one of the most improved player over last year.

Williams is making me feel a lot better about the QB position for 2014, he's in control of the offense and accurate delivering the ball.

Williams has a very similar throwing motion to Dorsey...no doubt about it.

Let's hope he has at least 60-70% of his football IQ. He's going to be our starter next year for better or worse. He's looked much improved this year so let's hope he keeps getting better.

Goldens post game handshake with Taggart reminded me of Shannons brush off of Urban. Compare to Golden meeting the Savannah State coach which was very friendly and cordial.

Isn't it a bit early to get carried away, partner?

“I think we took our foot off the gas in the third quarter, and I’ll be debating that for the next 24 hours, whether I should
have done that or not,” Golden said. “It killed our continuity and led to a defensive touchdown for them. Then it starts to
erode what you’ve already accomplished, which was 49 points without having to punt.”

Devin Hester is simply a freak of nature. WHen he is on its as if everyone else is playing in slow motion. That said Coley has a fabulous future ahead of him. He is a big time talent. But a Devin Hester comes about every 20 years.

Not carried away. Noone in the game will ever be as explosive on kickoffs and punts as hester was, probably ever again. Im talking about the stride... when I see his stride its so fluid and natural. Coley is like a gazelle. I know he isnt as fast as Hester but he does have elite college speed and the way he makes his cuts at full speed is not like many.

Golden, tell us how you really feel about USF and Taggart.

Would love to see this, someone/anyone if you have please post.

Devin was Devin, and Coley probably won't be the return man Hester was, but he's going to be 10x the offensive player Hester was. If he can do that and be Roscoe Parrish or Darryl Jones as a returner, I'll be happy.

Coley's punt return, replete with insane balance, vision, and strength, reminded me of the late ST26.
