My one hope for Kaaya and our fan-base...

What your gonna see if that Kayaa performs bad...We will still blame Corch Golden for having to decide between a true freshman and a Heap of **** two time transfer...yes if you were wondering I will be one of those guys
Likely to happen but what's Golden going to do? He brought in a high profile legacy recruit in Olsen. People can second guess it now all they want but Olsen and Kaaya back to back years with our situation is pretty good QB recruiting. Olsen just ****ed up the plan and forced us to look at Heaps.

But I realize my rationalization will mean jack ****.

Dewey, Crow, and Thompson does deserve some criticism

Yup that first class was ******* brutal. Not absolving that.

As valid as the OP's concerns are, I'm almost more worried about about the unrealistic expectations once we beat an overrated Lou-vuhllll. Hopefully we don't all instantly revert to the post-UF hype from last year only to make any pitfalls from week 4 on that more mope-rific around here. That said, I still think winning the god**** Coastal is still the standard for this year regardless of if it's Kaaya taking snaps or every QB goes down and Joe Brown gets the nod.

@ Lex and k9. First, if the defense sucks I can definitely see changes being made. And I would love for Kaaya to be like Dorsey. If he is, then that just moves us up a year to 2015. Heck, now that I think about it, golden just may have his eyes on 2015. While I'm not expecting Duke to be here, if things break right with others, the 2015 season could have some nice potential. I just think we need to keep bringing in talent, though. And unlike others, I don't think we have to win big to do so. Its a ****load of talent in South Florida, and we just need to keep bringing some of it in. If we keep bringing in talented guys, most everything else will fall into place. We need our coaches to improve, but what we really need is talent AND quality depth. That's when **** will get real interesting.

Agreed the talent is there, but our coaches have to drastically improve in the X and O category. Talent will get you to the ACCCG, coastal is weak, but winning the ACCCG and playoffs is a different game.

Our fanbase before the season:

Hudson: I'm ready, man, check it out. I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art! You do NOT wanna **** with me. Check it out! Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks...

Our fanbase mid-season (if our D hasn't improved):

Hudson: That's it, man. Game over, man! Game over! What the **** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?

I think this decision actually buys them some leeway - however small and proportionate to a disastrous season.

It's a built in excuse and potentially gives him another year.

He got another year when he fired nobody on the staff this past season. This will be the one where assistants are lost if its business as usual for him.

Those saying he had stones making this decision, I'll completely disagree. The competition was close, player comments suggest as much regardless of what you say K9. If it wasn't, their tone wound be different.

He now has a built in out if we lose to Louisville. Williams went down. Olsen, we've gotta maintain discipline as nobody is above the team. Heaps, we thought we could find a way to make this happen, but he didn't pick it up fast enough and had an injury. We had to start BK, it was a close competition regardless, but you're asking a lot for a Frosh to start out there with a win. We're building towards the future, brick by brick, be patient....blah, blah, blah.

The one assumption people keep making is that any of our QB's are impressive at this point. Hate to say it, but our defense has a way of making that happen.

K9 the problem is I think its "Show Me" time for this staff. Anything short of an ACC Title Game there is going to be a general consensus that Golden should be finished.

Its interesting that we are entering a season that the team has to start producing at a higher level with also the understanding that the most important position on the team is going to go through growing pains.

Kaaya is now the leader of a team and program that is desperate to win. Kid is in a tough spot but he is also in a spot to be remembered as a legend here. He has a stable of NFL talent at the skill positions around him. Its not helping with the idea of your post but Kaaya is really in a position to be remembered in 3-4 years as the guy who brought MIAMI Football back.

Won't matter unless the "general consensus" includes Donna Shalala. My guess is it won't. By the way, it doesn't include me either. In fact, I doubt it would be anything more than a minority opinion.

Good post. I think fans will differentiate between a kaaya mistake and overall poor play by the team. If the defense gives up 500 yards consistently there's going to be a lot of anger and rightfully so.

Also it's a results business and it sucks that Williams got hurt, but Goldens poor recruiting at the qb position doesn't absolve of the fact that he had to bring in heaps or play a true freshman cause he didn't have any other options. Golden needs to win the coastal and with kaaya in charge that doesn't change one bit.

Agreed Kaya doesnt paly D givng 500 yards up a team who lost all their weapons would be the straw that broke his back. I couldnt see how somebody would have the nerve to defend him after that was to happen

My sentiments exactly. Although Golden is not a good coach, he is not stupid. He has a fall back excuse now. But, want the kid and team to succeed, so hope it works out well.

is that they understand that no matter how good he might be and the euphoria of the decision by our staff earlier, that there will be growing pains. Im all in with Kaaya but I know there will be instances where he'll be a freshman( a true frosh, at that) and it will show

Again, don't mistake this for lowered expectations in terms of what we want/need from this position or this team. My take is that if he's named the starting QB, you play ball without the training wheels. Miami has too many weapons to go into a shell and played scared. But again, there will be bumps in the road, I just hope this staff rides it out with him

Hold on everybody, this is gonna be a fun ride

I'm sure the staff with ride out the whole year with Kaaya and be fully supportive of him. They proved that with Morris last year.

I'm also sure that our bi polar fan base will be crucifying him more than once this year, only to praise him the very next play.

I'm hoping for peace on earth and good tidings amongst men.

Unto a fan base a messiah is born.... To replace the false hope of the last imposter baby Jesus Olsen
