My changes to the recruiting strategy

Lots of good points, but this one..
6. More National Recruitment. I bet there is more kids nationally with more loyalty to the U than SoFla kids

I know its a mortal sin to think that way, but you're right. The turnover chain wasn't just popular in SoFla last year. It brought national attention to the program. I've heard a few west coast kids had interest but were being told they're still being evaluated, as we were sending out offers out to local kids, who flat out weren't/aren't coming. Idk if the staff felt burned by DJ Johnson or what. But he's one guy vs the all the SoFla kids who burn us EVERY YEAR.

I think it is more of time and resources thing.

There is an extremely plausible and realistic possibility that we may have only 1 scholarship QB on the roster by season's end.

Absolutely botched handling of the position by the brain trust. What's frustrating is this is the second time in the last 5 years Richt has screwed up his QB recruiting/ rotation.
He’s only been here 3 years tho. A kids choice to dip is not in the coach. Especially at QB. He been been here he signed Allison, weldon/Perry and Williams in consecutive classes. So getting them in is not the problem. I have no doubt we sign a QB

Nobody should argue with 3, 5, and 6. Especially 6. We have to find a way to recruit nationally like Butch and Jimmy did.

Teams come here and take our 3*, national low level guys but are locally seen as studs (Eddie Jackson, Ed Stinson, Deandre Baker, Daniel Wright, etc) why cant we have the same strategy in Cali or Texas or PA? USC and Oregon cant get all of the Cali studs. Go out there and look around! We have to do something different.

the issue is when we recruit nationally, the local idiots here claim we dont care about the local schools. its a lose lose situation no matter what you do. you focus on local areas and you deal w this mess and you go national you deal w local drama nonsense about miami ignoring the local schools

More national recruitment definitely. Our best players aren't from sofla because we never get the best ones from there. At least cast a wider net. We get burned every year by these divas and the staff is left holding their ****s in their hands.

The one X-factor/krytonite to the Bama/Clemson Bag Machine is finding that big time QB.

A great QB can mask the deficiencies in other areas of recruiting. However, Richt while known for being a QB guy, has a pretty poor track record of developing them in recent years and also has a ****** system.

I'm confused. Wasn't one of the biggest knocks on Golden and other staffs since Butch were that they ignored South Florida and focused more on national recruiting?

#6... the most loyal and die hard Cane we have is indeed not from S. FLA - Deejay

DeeJay. Brevin. Colbert. Lingard. Shaq. Berrios. Most of the ambassador types.

Sad state of affairs. South Florida celebrates that front runner mercenary lifestyle for these kids that drastically hinders our one real advantage. Some people even try to tell you that's why the kids are so good. And kids who leave don't get FOR SALE signs in their yards the next night, they get a pat on the *** and Miami fans rationalizing it on message boards. It's a lost cause and not changing anytime in the near future. If a kid is a "huge Miami lean" that visits over and over but never commits while SEC schools flirt with him, more often than not our staff and fans would both be wise to forget he exists.

There are talented kids in the United States who would love to be Miami Hurricanes if we gave them the same amount of attention that we gave guys like Campbell, Jobe, Ingraham, etc. Our staff needs to start sifting through the turncoats way earlier in the process.

You can see the front runner mentality in high school now, commitment posts and kids going to 3 different high schools chasing clout and rings.

No body is saying ignore SoFla but when the #1 Corner in the country reaches out to you and shows interest. You don't turn him down because you want to build your defense with 3* SFla kids.

Steele showed interest?

1. Stop letting local recruits visit every week without starting to push for commitments. Enough with the Saturday Hang Outs at Miami games.

2. Stop letting local kids commit with 2 offers. It's becoming clear to me that local kids take Miami offers and commit with the hopes of more offers and recognition.

3. No More ******* Silents. You are either a public commit or your not.

4. Enough with telling commits to enjoy the process. It's obviously not working.

5. If you commit and take other visits, we are going to continue to recruit your positon and recruit over you.

6. More National Recruitment. I bet there is more kids nationally with more loyalty to the U than SoFla kids

7. Start limiting access to campus. Having open visits with blank commitments is not working

8. Enough with the All eggs in 1 basket strategy.
I’m with you on this 1000% bro **** is just plain and simple stop recruiting like pussies we have to let them know

1. You with us no bull****
2. We’re good without you kick rocks

I keep telling everybody being in awe and supporting what St Thomas and American Heritage does is bad for business. I will give u an example. Ppl think Buford recruits/cheats here in GA. They don't get nearly as much respect as st Thomas and American heritage. Joe rose goes on every Friday and talks about how good st Thomas is. Anybody can coach that team vs these neighborhood schools. When i lived down there they had kids from 3 counties playing for that team. Even at the public schools kids transfer between 3 schools sometimes. Groupie mentality and I never liked a groupie. When Miami fell after the 2001 season we started getting kids that wanted to be groupies to the winning

There is nothing glorious about that. What u feel like a winner because you recruit in high school. If that's the case have an entire schedule of teams that can recruit from around the US.

It used to **** me off, I never understood how they got away with it being as blatant as they were. My school would get questions for a kid transferring because his family moved, we had a kid from Boyd Anderson move and transfer into Piper and the schoolboard was asking if he moved to play football his parents had to show they actually moved, yet St Thomas would just come and take kids as they wish from every sports team we had no questions asked. Its a **** problem and the new rules with transferring schools in FL just made it worse.

Every coach prior to Golden has done it. Heck, Golden probabaly recruited more sofla players than Jimmy did.

The problem is we hire coaches that can't teach anything on offense or defense and can't recruit and don't drop bags.
