Criteria is it has to be a win that to this day rarely gets talked about

Plus it had to be a win that had subsequent significance

My choice is the Gator Bowl win vs Ga Tech in the 99 season

To me that was the final step back up the stairs out of the basement. Got us back into the living room of college football

I remember before the game many peeps predicting Heisman runner up Joe Hamilton going all "Vick" on us

It was a NewYears Day game on National TV

People took notice because we had some bad bad losses earlier that season on tv

Very important victory imo

Actually three come to mind, Oklahoma, Arkansas and LSU all on the road, really insignificant games so to speak, but I think everyone really knew after those beatings that Miami was here to stay.
I don't know if they really meet the criteria, but I remember in every one, the opposing fans were certain this little Miami program was no match for them.

I'd pick the '85 Oklahoma game.

Miami was coming off a disappointing '84 season and we lost the home opener against the Gators in '85. Most Canes fans were seriously doubting whether JJ was the right man for the job.

And no one thought the Canes stood much of a chance against the Sooners in Norman. The Sooners in '85-86 arguably had one of the top 10 defenses in college football history. And the Canes smacked Oklahoma all over the field. That game made Miami a force in college football again.

Absolutely one of the first games that came to mind for me. 1999 was really the first season of my life (16 at the time) that I literally watched every game that was possible that season. Prior, it had been bits and pieces. Remember that game like it was yesterday.

West Virginia 2000 was big as was 1998 Micron PC victory over NC State. Was the first bowl game since 1996 and the first for bowl game win for the core group that was the 2000 and 2001 'Canes.

1979. Freshman Jim Kelly's first start. He pukes in the locker room before the game. Miami beats #19 Penn State 26-10 and never looks back.

12-7 win over East Carolina in 83 --- **** near ruined the whole Schnelly thing.

20-16 over USCe in 87 --- ditto for Jimmy.

Michigan State almost beat us in '89. If they had, the FSU loss later would've put us out of it.
