I believe in baby jesus olsen as much as the next guy, but does the ghost of Randy continue to ***** us by having burned Morris's shirt at UVA in 2010? I know it had to be done, but it was because there was no contingency for Jacory.

I think we will be good next year, and really come into our own in 2014, but that is a lot of pressure on a redshirt freshman. Given how Morris has progressed, it would have been awesome to see him with all of these young guys when I really expect them to make a run at the title.

Just hand off to Duke/Collins/Michel/Cook, throw to Sandland/Warlord/Dobard/Johnson over the middle, and throw deep to Coley/Dorsett/Scott/Carter/Lane/Brady.

Win.

Dewey or Crow might turn out to be pretty good as well. If Morris has the 2013 season like so are predicting then he wouldn't have been back for 2014 regardless.

Olsen definitely needs to redshirt IMO.

Williams will start in 2014, unless Dewey can take the job from him.

Crow will be a career back up unless he transfers.

Thompson will eventually move on to just concentrating on baseball, I think.

Olsen will have every chance to win the job as a redshirt Freshman. I could see Dewey pushing for the #2 spot this spring as well, always thought he could be a good college QB.

It's difficult to defend Corch Shannon, but what was he supposed to do with Morris? Let Spencer Whipple start while Jacory was out? The biggest indictment of that staff was not having a back-up QB more talented than S. Whipple to take over in case Jacory was injured.

Morris needed to play against MD in '10. His shirt would have been burnt anyway. What really cost Morris a redshirt was J12 being suspended to start the season in '11.

We have capable QB's behind Morris. They're just young.

Thats what happens when you let 2 QBs transfer during fall camp and have a grand total of 2 scholarship QBs on the roster.

that was the OP's point. clearly, shannon had to burn morris' shirt, given what we had on the roster. But had he recruited the qb position like a moderately competent head coach, there would have been someone else to fill the back-up role rather than a true freshman.

You don't "let" them. If a kid wants to transfer, there is nothing to stop him.

The other thing is that both of those guys went to crap programs and eventually switched positions. We lost nothing when Cook and Smith transferred. If you want to fault Shannon, fault him for recruiting them in the first place.

what andrew said. if morris progresses as he is supposed in 13, he wouldn't be around anyway for his sr year.
i'm torn on olsen. it depends on what the staff thinks. they may have to see something early on. if they are thinking he might be the starter 14, i say give him time in 13. don't want him going into his season in 14 w/ zero time real game situations.

I think Olsen redshirts regardless, we need some more seperation between our QB's.

We won't do **** in '14 with Williams as our starter.

You can't really say that when we're still 2 recruiting classes away from 2014. We have no idea who exactly will be surrounding him on offense, nor will we know what the D will look like.
