Does he have to pull the "these hicks don't have the graduate degree I want to pursue?" trick to get around the block, or what?
Apparently, even after he graduates it still has to be approved by Bama in order for him to be released.
The Graduate Transfer Exception vs. the Graduate Transfer Waiver
I guess if overseer Saban says no, he won't be able to go to the school of his choosing.

So we're back in wait-and-see mode regarding his appeal...? Would be a significant short term upgrade to our CB corps, so I care more than I wish I did here.

If I'm the young man, I play the game until August, graduate and pack my stuff in the middle of the night. Get out of there and go public with it. Coaches leave without recourse, why can't this young man do the same!

Do you think our defense would have been better in Onofrio's scheme if we had smaller, fast-twitch, guys with less size and strength?

Firing Swasey was one of the best decisions Richt made.

I get tired of hearing people speak on this. So far off. Everything being everything though swase real coaching methods isn't Richts either. That's why he gone cause richt doesn't emphasize fast twitch

I'm not sure what this means. But if Swasey was a decent S&C coach, he wouldn't be coaching at a high school right now.

That's nowhere near true. Some people prioritize things very differently. If you knew him as an individual you'd realize this. His priority is family & teaching. Turned down multiple jobs. Just like (I hate the man with a passion & think he's a horrible Coach) no dnofrito was offered multiple jobs (I know several as fact)but chose to work with his kids optimist squad. Takes everything I got in me not to go with rotten eggs & frozen paintball every day over to that field. His certification expired & he never got certified for what alfraud wanted him coaching to the team. The style alfraud endorsed he was always very vocal about being against it.

Yeah. Some schools have being able to be in the weight room with the players being trained a priority.

Results matter. The old staff lost; Randy's staff lost. He was part of both. If you lose you must go. With a few exceptions, Randy's team couldn't tackle worth a crap either. Common denominators cannot be ignored. I am not any S&C expert, but we haven't scared anyone in a decade. Some of that has to fall on your friend.

No. I don't. Dnofrios scheme is perfect for his type of players. That's ivy league kids. Slow, pudgy white kids. Typically from up north or the mid west. Key denominator being unathletic & smart kids who need a plan in place because they lack football instincts.

You're absolutely right. We lost in both cases. Several common denominators. First & foremost under onion as well as alfraud we had a **** staff. Not just coordinators but quite a few of our position coaches as well. Obviously it showed on the field. The other denominator is under both staffs we still continued to put a constant flow of kids into the league who performed at a high level. That's a result of Swasey. Not anyone else.

Ferman saying Georgia is the front-runner, but transfer was rejected and he is appealing.

The way it sounds, Alabama blocked Georgia, and we are actually rooting on Smith's appeal to fail...so he has to choose a program outside the SEC (or whatever Saban's restriction is).

Yeap but they went from 1st round picks to 4, 5, and FA. That is talent, underdeveloped talent. NFL went from drafting Canes before anyone to getting them cheap. Staffs sucked and he was big part of them.

Overseer Saban is going to block him from going to any viable contending program, this kid will be playing for New Mexico St when Saban finally grants his release.

The SEC transfer rule is true, but it's pretty obvious Ferman is just making **** up. He's been scooped by Ariz so many times, he's desperate to "break" a story. There's little downside for him here as if Smith goes to Miami he can say the appeal failed, if he goes to UGa he can say he was right

I'm not sure if you know exactly what the s&c job is. But his job was done perfectly & that reflected based on the nfl getting them period. Results in college is why they were got cheap & thats a result of a bad scheme. Nah **** it call a spade a spade. It was actually the worst God awful scheme we could have ever had in place considering the kids we had & the other one had horrible play calling to go along with playing nothing but his favorites even if it reflected nowhere near the most talented player. That's why the results in college weren't reflected. A team is most certainly a team but you can only be as strong as your weakest link. In our case our coaching consisted of one monumental weakness after the other. When your job involves simply making sure kids are at peak condition results can sortve be misconstrued.

Swasey was pretty good, not great. He had to follow what Al Golden wanted him to do as in more weight and less speed. And we all know Al is a ******* moron

I think that the bottom line here is that even if we assume that your assessment is accurate, it was a move that had to be made just for the sake of wiping the slate clean. I think both parties needed to hit the reset button.

Holy fvck I can't believe my eyes. People not only saying that Swasey was good....but that he did his job perfectly! Gtfooh with that bull****. Swansea wasn't even allowed in the weight room. It doesn't get any WORSE than that. He was about as far from perfect as you can get. Nothing else needs to be said.

No argument about Golden at all, total disaster. Also, you're right that I don't know S&C job. I do know that we have declined horribly for OVER a decade and your guy was here that entire time. All I care about is Canes winning and he is completely associated with the destruction of the program. Right or wrong he needed to go. I love Art but he had to go TOO, even though he had every ring we ever won. You sound like you have a personal attachment to Swasey, which is fine, but mine is only to the program. I hated seeing Randy fail; he is family. Sometimes you have to put a family member out on the porch for the sake of the entire family. Swasey is family, but had to go. We are not some huge old school and big state institution, this family must win to survive.
