Miramar at South Plantation

I think it's very possible Collins is a little over rated. Not saying he is bad, just not as good as some say. His #'s aren't great against average competition in general. Today seems like he moved up in competition and did zero.

In Colllins' defense, our defensive front absolutely manhandled their line. And our athletes are better than other teams', so he couldn't just outrun them when he tried to stretch things to the outside.

Collins still has ELITE vision, and the ability to get where his eyes see space. Just not against a swarming Miramar defense with a chip on our shoulders, and a ballhawking beast in Jermaine Grace chasing after Collins on every snap.

Thank you for the fair, unbiased breakdown Cameron.

My first post, glad to be apart of the crowd here. Longtime Miami fan, been around, this is definitely a great place. I plan to be active here.

OH OH OH!!! Here's another detail, just for you, Pete:

John Franklin as a BCS level recruit.

L.O.L.

I know this is probably not a fantastic way to start by disagreeing with a mod...

Mr. Underwood, absolutely have to disagree with your assessment of John Franklin. I was in attendance for the 3-0 game. I think another set of eyes might be beneficial to the board.

I believe Franklin is an outstanding athlete, however, not sure he's FSU caliber. Definitely BCS, just not elite. Have to have Pete's back on his belief there. I visited another game during the regular season at South Plantation and was very impressed. He's not a QB, IMO, but a WR/S/CB, maybe in two years, but his athletic ability is definitely there. Yes, he played like crap last Friday night, but doesn't take away from his potential.

Another thing, Collins' shoulder was heavily taped before the game, wasn't 100%. Not even close. He also was nursing a hand injury. Keep in mind, it poured right before the end of the first half, making the footing really tricky and challenging the playmakers to get a step outside. The field was muddy and sloppy, not much going on for either offense. LOTS of dives, draws, and off tackle plays for both squads, but with both stacking the box also because of the conditions, not much really could be executed offensively.

On another note, I saw where Grace is listed at 6'1, 196. Not sure he's that big. I like him as a player, just think he's a little lighter than reported. Definitely quick and diagnoses plays with the best of'em.

We can disagree on Franklin. I'm fine with that. Just don't think he's a BCS level recruit.

As for Collins, yes, he was dinged up. I was there at midfield watching him get taped up. All of that being said, his lack of production could be attributed to many more things than that injury. Was it impactful? of course. Was it the only thing holding him back? Not nearly.

The field was sloppy, the footing was terrible, and there were VERY few positive offensive plays made for either team.

All of that being said, I came away from this game knowing 3 things: 1. Alex Collins still has elite RB skills, 2. Jermaine Grace is an elite defender (ps, he's 6'1" 210, I asked him today), 3. John Franklin won't see the field at FSU for at least 3 years.
