I'm sure you already know, but this matchup features 2 of the top teams in Broward County, and also 2 Miami targets that we have been after for a long time.

Miramar - LB Jermaine Grace
South Plantation - RB Alex Collins

Last year, Miramar won in this same round by a score of 38-0. Both players had big games for their teams, and really stood out on the field. You can read my full recap of last year's game here: http://miramarsports.blogspot.com/2011/11/playoff-game-recap-regional.html

For tonight, I look forward to seeing these 2 All-American caliber players butting heads repeatedly when South Plantation is on offense. I also am anxious to see how (if?) John Franklin has progressed in the last 366 days.

As per usual, I'll be live tweeting the game. Follow me at @MiramarSports on twitter for the live commentary. I'll be posting a full game recap on my blog (miramarsports.blogspot.com) and as a recruiting thread here also.

Thanks. Im guessing the games not broadcasted?

No, there will not be a live tv or radio broadcast. But, my live tweeting skillz are pretty epic.

LOL looking forward to it.

Feeling confident about Grace being a Cane, and making an impact?

I'll post pictures if I can. There will be video recaps from a couple outlets too.

As far as Grace, if he's NOT a Cane, I'd be absolutely shocked. Flabbergasted. Aghast. Speechless. Dumbfounded.
Just don't see any way he's not wearing the Orange and Green next year.

Obviously LB is looking like a team strength going forward but do you think he can get on the field early? Anything he needs to work on other than just getting bigger and stronger?

One thing that sticks out is he seems to be good in coverage. That's one thing that can separate him from our current group IMO.

IMO, bigger and stronger are priorities #1 and 1a for Grace moving forward. He tends to run around blocks at times, since he's only about 212lbs, and doesn't really take them on head up. He'll have to change his technique in that area, which he should be able to do with added size.

Grace is an outstanding cover player. If he's able to add size, and be a competent run defender (which I believe he should be able to do), then he could definitely see the field early in his collegiate career.

Perhaps we could see Grace play a little early in those 3rd down nickel packages like Cornileus and Armbrister have this season

According to his twitter account Collins has played only 3 snaps in the 2nd half. Apparently no longer on the sideline either.

Collins had his shoulder wrapped before the game. I spoke with Manny after the game, and he said the wrist was something that happened in the game, and was really bothering Collins.

Stats for the 2 players we care about:
Alex Collins - 5 carries, 22 yards, 1 catch, -1 yard
Jermaine Grace - 8 tackles (6 solo, 2 assist), 2 TFL

Collins and Grace met on running plays 3 times. Collins tried to juke, and outrun Grace all 3 times. He failed to do so every time.
Collins got so frustrated that he got a personal foul facemask penalty after a play on the Miramar sideline, grabbing Grace's helmet and trying to spin him to the ground. It was the definition of a frustration penalty. In games past, the jukes and outside runs were enough to shake the defense. But, against a player of Grace's caliber, that was simply not the case.

A very interesting game. Lots to write about (which I will).
In the end, Miramar was victorious by a score of 3-0.

I think it's very possible Collins is a little over rated. Not saying he is bad, just not as good as some say. His #'s aren't great against average competition in general. Today seems like he moved up in competition and did zero.

In Colllins' defense, our defensive front absolutely manhandled their line. And our athletes are better than other teams', so he couldn't just outrun them when he tried to stretch things to the outside.

Collins still has ELITE vision, and the ability to get where his eyes see space. Just not against a swarming Miramar defense with a chip on our shoulders, and a ballhawking beast in Jermaine Grace chasing after Collins on every snap.

Already playing like a FSU RB... ****! That was fast.

Joking aside, will be a shame to see a talent like him being wasted in no RB´s TE´s land...
