Mike James

Good for Mike. Really rooting for this guy. Such a class act. One of the better guys to wear the orange white and green in a while.

I just happened to be watching at a bar tonight one pass play where he blew up someone rushing. He put the dude on his *** like a LB would.

Good for him.

He'll be fine. Schiano likes dudes like him: smart, tough, hard working.

Looks phenomenal.

If he can perform on special teams he will be in the league for a while. Good all-around player.

Not sure a player out there deserves it more. And he is a **** good all around football player.

A lot of young players don't understand the aspect of being a great teammate, person. That adds extra years in the league, and a few million. Its especially prevalent in the NBA but its big in the NFL as well

I kinda wish James was here another year just to impart more of himself onto Duke. Duke still talks about him in interviews.

If every Cane had the attitude of Mike James Golden wouldn't be pulling us out of nearly as huge a mess.

Love that guy. I hope he has a long career. He deserves it.

Mike and Marcus played well...Marcus will hardly see the field this year but should make the roster...

Mike is a baller plane and simple

I was dying for the Dolphins to take James and pair him with Lamar in the backfield, but they drafted the Gaytor Gillislee instead. He's been completely underwhelming up to this point. SMDH. Kudos to Tampa for knowing where to find real talent.

So when they drafted Lamar last year they knew?

Watching the game also; Mike's blitz pick up has been great. He's definitely doing the things that earn you a roster spot.

This. That's how I see Mike James carving out a nice career. He's gonna be that back you bring in on 3rd down who can blow up a blitzing lb and protect your qb or sneak out in the flats, catch a pass and get 5 or 6 yards for a first down.

I can see him having a Donnell Bennett or Warren Williams-type career.

His toughness, versatility and intelligence will keep him around for awhile...

As a "BucCANEers" (that will be a term describing a Buc and Can fan lol) I loving the James is having a good preseason. I've watched both the Bucs preseason games and he has looked good. The guy is blocking and running well. He has a tough road ahead. The bucs have L. Johnson and Hillis and both are very good rb, but I think he makes the roster.

Warren would love to hear that..we are still great friends...

One of my favorite Canes in a long time. Wish him the best. Rarely ever went without a smile his face. No reason he can't have a nice 4-8 year career in the league, make a couple million dollars and set himself up.

Usually it ****es me off when ex-Canes go on to be more productive in the NFL than they were at UM. But Mike James is an exception. I'm expecting him to be better in the NFL, and I'll be his biggest fan (OK, maybe tied for biggest fan).

Ding, I think the key difference here is that it wasn't from any indifference or 'NFL U' mentality from Mike James, but that he had guys like Lamar Miller and Duke Johnson alongside him, and even guys like Javarris James( who got a cup of coffee at the next level) and even Craig Cooper. He was always a committed ball player at the U, who looked forward to Saturdays before dreaming of Sundays.

James was always solid as a rock, this program needed many more guys like him in the past decade

James is a plugger. I agree that he may not have the spectacular careers of guys like Gore, but that he'll stick around for a long time because of all the weapons he brings to bear. premier blocking, excellent on STs, good hands, leadership. Too bad Fish had to go up-tempo all the time to hide the crap defense play, otherwise we would have benefitted a lot more from Mike James. He was just on the team at the wrong time, when we couldn't grind with the ball.
